A collection of seeming randomness. Mar 23rd, 2011 at 3:19 AM. Sitting in the Anchorage airport, waiting for my flight to Kenai, freezing. I accidentally left my coat in Arizona with my folks and just have my light weight t-shirt. So very cold. Will never do that again. The worst part is my flight is with Era which means I have to walk outside to the airplane instead of a warm jetway. Ugh. Oh well. Just five more hours and I will be there and can wrap up in all the blankets I want. It's a family of five.

JUDGMENT - sertrel

June 23rd, 2009. Whether it is fair to judge society based on Google search suggestions. For "how to use a":. Influenced by the immediate proximity of "protractor" next in the list, I initially though this referred to the circle-drawing tool. Which is technically "pair of compasses". Many other languages actually have entirely distinct words for the navigational instrument and the drafting tool. ( languagehat. Has a better explication of the etymology of compass. About parentheticals vs. footnotes. A lot...

It happens later on the west coast (broadcast delay?) | Analemma

It is intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer . . . It happens later on the west coast (broadcast delay? One of the cool things about this day is that it has a fairly high profile on the common, demi-Gregorian calendar, the equinoxes perhaps figuring even larger than solstices in my casual surveys. Another one is that it is only the autumnal equinox if you live north of the equator: otherwise, it is the vernal kind. Meanwhile, though, while it is the closest we get to equal night and day.

It is intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer . . . One of the things I really like about Corvallis is that so many different trees flourish here; there are at least two different kinds. By Chris Mooney and Sheril Kirshenbaum. I liked a lot of things about the book, including their specific policy examples and seamless inclusion of philosophers of science in a discussion generally very practical in nature. In New Scientist, and that is a sentiment always worth stating. How to see stars.

It is intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer . . . Or (various) new year(s). Well, even if the OED defines them as such, neither the September equinox. Has a very precise definition. Anybody know how to use Illustrator or SolidWorks? Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…. Filed in Aldo Leopold-ish. How to see stars. July 14th, 2009. Reports on The Six Most Dysfunctional State Governments. The quality of leadership - by the state's legislature, its current governor and, where applicable, its ousted governor. The whiff of criminality in the state's top political leadership. The severity of the state's policy challenges. The intensity of the media circus surrounding state government. And the rankings of the top (bottom? On the list. Louisiana. In fact, its exclusion is even specifically noted as follows. I would stress...
