한국문화 함께 경험하기: Partnership with Schools, KPGs. 그동안 학구역에서 작고 크게 이루어져왔던 각종 한국문화소개 프로그램을 좀더 전문화하고 교안화하여 교육적인 필요(needs)가 있는 학교에 절차를 밟아 상정하고 이에 따라 실제적인 내용을 지원하는 한인학부모회(KPG)가 학교, 교사들과 함께 의논하고 교안및 자료준비등에 참여해 학생들에게 직접적인 다문화교육효과가 이루어지도록 격려하고 돕습니다. 이같은 노력으로 모범적인 열매를 맺고있는 학구역은 타학구역이 참관하거나 참고하는 기회를 마련하는 등 우리 모두의 공동적인 유익을 위해 적극 협조합니다. 학교와 효과적으로 대화하는 방법. 공립도서관, 200퍼센트 활용법. 한편, 청소년기에 딱 한가지 최고로 발달하는 두뇌의 부위가 있는데, 그것은 관능적인 것을 추구하는 부위이다. 그러므로 이 시기에 이성적으로 생각하는 부위가 미성숙한 우리 자녀들은, 두뇌의 감정센터라고 볼 수 있는 이 부위에 크게 의존하여 행동할 수 밖에 없게 된다. 이쯤되면 청소년기 자녀들의 감정적이면서도 충동적인 행동이 훨씬 더 이해가 되지 않는가? 중요한 것은 이런 청소년기 두뇌발달 과정의 생리적 현상을 이해하는데 그칠 것이 아니라, 이 과정에 있는 우리 자녀들을 부모로써 어떻게 지도해야 할 것인가 하는 것이다. 부모보다 훌쩍 더 덩치가 자라버린 자녀들, 자신들이 이미 다 컸다고 주장하는 우리 청소년기 자녀들에게 혹시 무제한의 자유와 의사결정권을 부여하고 계시지는 않는지? 어느날 갑자기 변해버린 사춘기 자녀때문에 황당해 하시는 부모님들께 자녀의 입장에서 말씀드리고 싶다. 엄마 아빠, 저를 외계인 취급하지 말아주세요....
