A place for educators to reflect, recharge, and revive. March 10, 2014. I’m in beautiful Florida this week for spring break, and it is. Very different from New Mexico. First of all, there is water. And what is up with all of the green stuff growing from the ground? Where is all of the dirt? Oh Right. On the beach. On the flight out here, I was finally able to finish reading. I travel a lot, and this isn’t my first trip to Florida, but I can’t help but think about my students. I. It’s spring break! By Kim...

A place for educators to reflect, recharge, and revive. Wading into Word Walls. February 27, 2014. Image from: http:/ goo.gl/Gkmn0n. I have an announcement to make: I’ve decided to make a word wall. But I’m still intimidated. I decided to bite the bullet and implement a word wall the other day when my students were struggling through the first four pages of Blood and Thunder. Now, the question is, how does one use. Where will I put it? Should the words be in alphabetical order? The perfectionist side of ...

A place for educators to reflect, recharge, and revive. Deliberate Diction Unlocks the Door to Success! March 6, 2014. My Diction Door has expanded to become a Word Wall after all. Hot diggity, the Diction Door was a success! Geez, class is already over? It feels like it just started! This was fun, Miss! Can we do it again? I wanted to define Aesthetics! Miss, it says that bantam. Are they saying that Kit Carson was a chicken. In response to Student D): Ooh! Here’s how it all went down. A verb. Then ...

A blog dedicated to using movement in the classroom. Traveling the Word Wall. March 3, 2014. I could let people stew on this word for quite some time. There is a great deal conversation about vocabulary, how to effectively teach it, the difference between tier one, two, and three vocabulary words, Common Core and its effect on teaching vocabulary, and the list goes on. Racing, Reviewing, and Acronyms. Testing and Moving →. 5 thoughts on “ Traveling the Word Wall. March 3, 2014 at 9:26 pm. You are comment...

A Big Ship and Palliative Care...
A Big Ship and Palliative Care. Sunday, 4 December 2011. Now I am in a place where the frantic rush to attract the attention of consumers does not begin in October and this makes for some serious reflection. In a place where people have nothing but their voices to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, the simplicity and joy of people's faith becomes all that matters. As I was listening to the carol singing, I read these verses from 1 Peter 1:6-9:. Labels: Christmas in Africa. Wednesday, 30 November 2011.

Harriet in Nantes
I’ve been back in Britain for just over a week now and it’s only just beginning to sink in that I won’t be going back to Nantes. The last few weeks were completely packed as we tried to fit in everything we had wanted to do and to see our favourite places for the last time. We picked the coldest day to go to the beach! Our last Giggs cocktails. It was so French as well with people finishing off their cigarettes at the start line and using their armband for cigarette packets instead of phones! Relax- ther...
