July 31, 2009. 4:00pm, Friday July 31st. We're just off the coast of Taree, staying inshore a bit to avoid a southerly current. We have five on board: Lisa, Kim, Alistair, Michael and Geoff. Wind is around 20 knots and the boat speed is around 10 knots. We vary between 9 and 14 knots with just the main and hedsail set. We've been surrounded by humpback whales with one quite close. We're (still) expecting to be in Brisbane by mid afternoon on Sunday. Edit: These are not our photos, but gives you the idea.

August 22, 2009. We have just finished the first day of race week at Hamilton Island. The week began last night with the opening of the new yacht club (in the pictures). The fleet contains about 195 yachts and we are racing in the IRC Passage Division 1. This is for fast cruising yachts, which we would be. with some more wind! August 29, 2009. The end of a great week! Well, following our lay day on Tuesday, the wind did not really do too many favours, but we did manage one of the most beautiful sails that anyone has experienced. With Frank's iPod supplying chilled out music, rum and coke in everyone's hands, gorgeous Whitsunday scenery and 190 (or so) spinnakers all full of air and flying back to Hamilton Island, life does not get much better! And keep following the blog - there are more adventures in store! Posted by The Crew.
