Living a life in between. January 23, 2015. In Love, family and community. What am I doing with Halfway to Normal? That’s a good question, seeing as how I last posted in August! Over the course of 2014, blogging became a burden rather than a joy. I miss my readers. Writing is fun again! At the time, I mostly just wanted to be able to write ...

Hollyhouse Studio: How you Thinking?
http://hollyhousestudio.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-you-thinking.html
Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Ever feel like you don't belong? The day before the Tulsa Run I had to pick up my race packet. I drove to OU Tulsa and entered the "Fitness Fair." The name alone gave me a mild panic attack: "will they let me in? I'm not wearing my fitness clothes, I don't have a cute ponytail or blonde highlights. Someone will know I'm an impostor. But, I have to get that packet if I want my official time." I really want my official time. (Pretty good, by the way.). The wicked witch is fiction!

Thursday, October 21, 2010. I have a friend who trained for and finished a half marathon. Awesome, right? But when I hear her talk about it, she uses terms like "that stupid half marathon," and "I hate long run days.". When I started posting my runs to facebook, friends asked if I was training for something. Nope. (Remember, keeping the dog poo at bay.) I hated it. HATED IT. It hurt. I couldn't find the right music. It was too early. And I had to keep running. I was like my half marathon friend. I asked ...

Letting my creative juices flow. Sunday, August 22, 2010. I think I get what I miss about Berkeley. Yes, part of it is the ability to easily walk to places of interest but there's more to it. Berkeley is where the craziness happens. And when I say craziness, I mean in a Lucy and Ethel kind of way. In case you're wondering, I had the roasted pork tenderloin medallions that were served with a curry bacon sauce. So I'm in Berkeley for another two nights and now I'm wondering what kind of. Here's the thing&#...

Thursday, October 21, 2010. Or: In Which I Become a Bossy Shrew. The word " should. Should be stricken from our language. I despise that word, and I'll tell you why. Think about it. What are the things you tell yourself you should do, be, think, or say? Go on a diet. Spend more time in prayer. Do you hear that? That's the sound of guilt smearing itself all over your good intentions. The guilt implied by the word " should. When I hear the word " should. And now they have to call my parents. Yeah, maybe a ...

Monday, April 4, 2011. Anything but my Age. Why I'm Young at Heart. My age was always overestimated throughout my childhood and teenage years. Perhaps because of my height? But currently, my sister and I are asked who is older and she was born two months after my fourth birthday. I eat dry Cheerios. Goldfish crackers, fruit snacks, animal crackers, candy necklaces, and ring pops. I can't hold back tears. My emotional regulating abilities can be a bit. lacking. Sometimes I just want my mom.
