Fall is my favorite time of year here in Indiana, and one of the best ways to kick off the season in Bloomington is the annual BBQ and Blues festival at McCormick's Creek State Park. The park is beautiful, full of Indiana woods and wildlife, cliffs and waterfalls. The festival was catered by two of our favorite bbq places in Bloomington: Smokin Jacks Rib Shack. There was a classic car show at the festival too.

It is illegal now to trespass onto quarries, so the cemetary was supposed to have the best view of what is called the Empire Quarry. I asked Hank where it got its name. The Hayman Fire passed through here back in 2002, and you can literally see where the Lord's hand just covered and protected the valley from that fire. Because of the fire, you now have uninhibited and gorgeous views of the Colorado Rockies. Welcome to the ranch. Where every morning you are met with a view like this. Me and my cowboy.

Now that we've moved to Colorado, we are starting to explore our new home with little day trips. So here's a new post for the travel blog:). This past week on our way home from Denver, we decided to stop at Lookout Mountain in Golden and visit the Buffalo Bill Memorial Museum. It was so fun! We love finding these little hole in the wall places.

Monday, April 22, 2013. Fun on the Plains. At the end of the day we headed over to Toomer's Corner for the final rolling of the Live Oak trees that were poisoned by a Alabama fan. I was blown away by the volume of people that were there, this was hands down the biggest rolling of the trees that I have ever seen and we truly had blast! I will never forget Davis rolling the trees and stopping to share a roll of TP with a younger boy just as some older kids had just done with him. Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Cheetah party for Davis. We celebrated Davis's 5th birthday on at a local pizza place with lots of friends! Davis had a great time running around playing games and winning tickets. He has been into cheetahs a long time because they are the fastest land animal and he considers himself to be a fast runner ;). So his party and cookie cake had a cheetah theme. The goody bags had Cheetos, zebra cakes, and safari slap bracelets! It takes two grandmothers to deal with Spence!

Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Our little guy turned 4 today! It has been a fast four years. Davis is full of life, mischief, and fun! Each day is never dull with him around, and he keeps me on my toes. Being his mom is sometimes the hardest but most rewarding job I have had. We are thankful God entrusted him to us. He is a blessing to us and we look forward to seeing him grow and mature in the coming years. I wanted to write down some of his stats and what he is into. He weighs 46 pounds! I Heart Nap Time.
