Ghanaian Al-Hassan: May 2006

http://ghanaiankyle.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Kyle Baptista's 2006 JFID in Ghana. In Damongo, rains have threatened us for a few days. Large, perilous storms which seem certain to hit veer away from us at the last minute. There is a system to these storms that anyone can use to detect their occurrence minutes before they start (besides from looking at the clouds, of course):. Posted by Kyle at 06:05. We borrowed a truck from the MoFA office and transported my mattress from the Shangrila to my new home. We were greeted by all of the neighbors as ...

Ghanaian Al-Hassan: June 2006

http://ghanaiankyle.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Kyle Baptista's 2006 JFID in Ghana. Ghanaians can hardly believe what they have witnessed; Ghana is ranked #48 in the world against the #2 Czechs. After the first goal, almost everyone in town crowds around the few stores which have televisions. Ghana's national broadcaster, GTV, can be picked up by any antennae, making it very easy to receive the signals live from Germany. I hope you will join me in cheering on Ghana in the FIFA World Cup for the remainder of the tournament. Posted by Kyle at 10:11.

Kyle Baptista's 2006 JFID in Ghana. Well I have arrived at the EWB training house. 12 Treford Street in Toronto is a cozy three bedroom duplex with three floors of bedding for the dozens of overseas volunteers who will sleep under this roof over the next several weeks. I am on a stopover on my way to Pickering for the weekend, but I will return Sunday morning to the training house for six days of intense workshops and sessions to prepare myself for the May 7th departure to Tamale. Unfortunately I do not ...

Stream of Unconsciousness: 5 months since graduation, but the learning never stops.

http://megsjourneys.blogspot.com/2008/10/5-months-since-graduation-but-learning.html

Thursday, October 16, 2008. 5 months since graduation, but the learning never stops. As a general recap of my college career:. Begin URI as a journalism major. Become afraid of the rigidity of the curriculum and gen eds being too specific, switch to English major. Realize I'm totally noncommittal. Realize there's not much I can do with an English major, add Elementary Education. Realize I only really like the little little kids, switch to Early Childhood Education. Add minor in International Development.

Stream of Unconsciousness: March 2008

http://megsjourneys.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 31, 2008. For the love of all things good, somebody turn off my brain. Last time I wrote, I was concerned about how selective my critical thinking was. Now I can't turn it off. I am questioning everything. Over and over and through and through, I am tearing apart every element of my life, past present and future. It's potentially getting to unhealthy levels. Sunday, March 9, 2008. A little venting, if you will allow it. O Future, why must you be so annoyingly upon me? Why is my critical thi...

Stream of Unconsciousness: April 2010

Sunday, April 25, 2010. Control. or lack thereof. So last night we had a lovely girls night, and for a short while Maggie, Marcy, and I found ourselves laying about the living room talking about the concept of control. What we realized was that everything is all wrong. Why are we so exhausted by 40 hour work weeks on (at least fairly) regular schedules when we had all the energy in the world taking 15-18 credits a semester and working (at least) part time and writing 5 papers a week? Monday, April 5, 2010.
