Simone in Saudi Arabia

Wednesday, 2 October 2013. So acute are my powers of observation that I only notice the billowing clouds of black smoke after the young guy in my green grocer has escorted me out to my car with bags of mangoes, tomatoes, parsley and the best looking rocket salad leaves I’ve seen in quite a while. My local green grocer. What's in season is cheap, fresh and wonderful. What's not, isn't there. University of Bahrain. Gate No. 1. Entrance to my home. The photos: King of Bahrain, Crown Prince, Prime Minister.

Finding Simone: March 2011

http://findingsimone.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 1 March 2011. Malaysians eat. Continuously. Colleagues Syal, Anita and I try ALL the restaurants near the Northern village we're training at. This on is near Big Pumpkin. Yeah, that is its name. Malaysians eat 5 times a day. Once we've made our way to the 8th floor in the building's single lift to clock in sometime before 8am, the real work begins. Breakfast: Grilled fish. Chilli squid. Veges in shrimp paste. Fried eggs. Fried noodles. Cafeteria Cashier: My icecream habit is a source of amusement.

Finding Simone: July 2012

http://findingsimone.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, 21 July 2012. Simone in Malaysia: Education in Floods. A small pond has formed in the corner of my dining room. Right across the newly restored parquet floor. Which I promised to take care of. Keep free from harm. Maintain lovingly. My beautiful - if soggy - parquet floors. It is not these commitments which are most irritating, however. What really pisses me off is that the pond formation follows a Malaysian education campaign on water usage. Landslides caused by flash flooding. When that rain ...

Finding Simone: August 2013

http://findingsimone.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Friday, 30 August 2013. Running out of gas five minutes before we were due to arrive there was probably not the best introduction to Houston Airport. Not something I’ve ever managed before, either. Sinking cars in the sea, pissing off car-driving presidential body guards and assorted police officers, crashing into large trucks and car park walls while inebriated, having cars towed after getting stuck in overly abundant desert sand, providing the car-target for rock-throwing maniacs? Sadly, however, on th...

SIMPLE BLESSINGS

Sunday, December 11, 2011. I love the creativity that is out there on the internet. This is the second year that I have found cute, free printables to put in my regular 8x10 picture frames to display during the Christmas season. Here are two I am using for sure:. The first is from Today's Creative Blog. And it features a print by SissyPrint. I love that it displays that Christ was born as this is central to our Christmas celebration! The second comes from Little Birdie Secrets. Created by Sister Secrets.

Poulsen Family {Finding Simple Joys}

Friday, December 5, 2014. This poor little corner of my world seems to have been abandoned. Sadness. Between instagraming, facebooking, and texting, who needs a blog anymore? What to do.what do to. Start now and move forward? Actually upload pictures from the last YEAR and start from where I left off? Wait What have I done with all the pictures I've taken in the last 365 days? Did I even take any? Do I even have a camera anymore? What have I done with myself? Kids keep me busy. Sunday, July 27, 2014.
