erinscrapbook: Things I've Mounted Lately...
http://erinjapan.blogspot.com/2008/07/things-ive-mounted-lately.html
The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Thursday, July 10, 2008. Things I've Mounted Lately. Last Weekend, myself and a few brave souls climbed Tateyama. This is the second of the three Holy Mountains in Japan I've stood on the peak of (after Mt. Fuji) . That tiny bump slightly right of centre is over 3000m high and the goal of the climb. It also has a shrine and a place to spend money. Me and Will at the very very top. Looking cold. Although it's early July, there's still 2m of snow on the ground...

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Monday, February 18, 2008. Smoke baby pt. 1. Japanese warning signs tend to be less direct than those in Western nations. Whereas "Keep out! Smoke baby pt. 2. On the topic of tobacco, I pass this sign every day on my way to work. It reminds me of simpler times, of sock hops, poodle skirts, and segregation. Tuesday, February 12, 2008. This one combines the allure of the geisha. With the idioms of a prostitute. "Come on Toshie! Are really just Russian call gir...

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. What are you anyways? I've been asked by several people, as all travelers are inevitably asked, "Why did you came to Japan? And for the most part, the answer is mood dependent. It runs the gamut from "I like sushi" to "I want to find myself, and become more independent". I suppose the second answer is more to the point. Recently I came across an animated short that really sums up the true answer for me. What are you Anyways? We had ...

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Friday, March 28, 2008. Cellphone cameras: The good, the bad, and the uncalled for. As many of you know, or at least assume through stereotype, technology in. Is better than that in. Are far superior to their North American counterparts (iPhone excluded). Mine's the red one). Cute) in my best nasal Japanese girly voice, and we can both feel satisfied that we shared a moment of sorts. Of that which the diaper is meant to cover. This woman was specifically...

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Monday, August 25, 2008. A View from the Top. Last weekend I climbed Mt. Hakusan, thus completing my climb of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains "(along with Mt. Tateyama and Mt. Fuji). This was by far the most beautiful climb, although it was the most difficult. The weather was good for the entire climb, and despite the serious muscle pain I'm now feeling, it was a worthwhile experience. The torii gate at the beginning of the trail. Sunset near the top. Two week...

Perspectives: The Sauroposeidon, To The Human, To The Bug. Their reality is just as intense as mine! Animals who are not. There are tiny animals who don’t demonstrate recognition of patterns, and others who seem to do so better than some university students. Alas, the size of a body or brain does. Barely larger than a fruit fly.

Soaring On Eagle's Wings
Soaring On Eagle's Wings. Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31). Monday, January 02, 2006. Jeff and I moved into our new condo in Cochrane - and it's great! We love it. Now that we've got internet and power and phone and everything, and we've figured out how to run the fireplace, all is well. :). At left is a picture of Holly and Meredith's room! I love this place. Oh, an...
