EMAS volunteers conduct several bird counts each year. Spring migration counts are held throughout western North Carolina in May, while the Buncombe County Christmas Bird Count is held in December or January. If you are interested in volunteering for a bird count, please contact Marilyn Westphal. Results of recent bird counts can be found below. Information about the Christmas Bird Count, now in its 115th year, can be found on the National Audubon Society's website: Citizen Science in Action.

The Bird Crew has purchased a bird feeder set up and installed it in front of the Cowpie Cafe, so now you can enjoy lunch while the chickadees and titmice enjoy theirs!
