a moon, worn as if it had been a shell: Twitter Twitter Caregiver

http://elizabethaquino.blogspot.com/2015/08/twitter-twitter-caregiver.html

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Girl sleeping with mermaid. I had a thought that there should be a special Tweet area for caregivers to give voice to all the things that they wish they could say to someone but can't or observations about - well - everything. All of the following have the right amount of letters for tweeting but will not be tweeted. My WheelchairCam was on continuously this afternoon at LACMA, recording stares. #dontstarepaparazzi. The Sound of the Silent. August 3, 2015 at 2:09 AM. God, I wish y...

a moon, worn as if it had been a shell: Mermaids in Summer

http://elizabethaquino.blogspot.com/2015/08/mermaids-in-summer.html

Tuesday, August 4, 2015. You could spend your entire life. Eavesdropping on the mermaid. Before you'd pick up the tiniest little clue. About where she was really from. One autumn day. Her and her child. While she was comforting it under her shawl. You are not the blue-green pup of the seal. You are not the grey chick of the greater black-backed gull. You are not the kit of the otter. Nor are you. The calf of the slender hornless cow.'. This was the lullaby she was singing. But she stopped short. Wise fri...

a moon, worn as if it had been a shell: Another Day in Paradise

http://elizabethaquino.blogspot.com/2015/08/another-day-in-paradise.html

Thursday, August 6, 2015. Another Day in Paradise. I took Oliver and Sophie to the beach in the late afternoon yesterday so that we could walk for a bit, eat dinner at our favorite beachside cafe and then watch the sunset. The sky turned pinker and pinker as we left, but since I was driving I couldn't get a good shot. Here's one I took at a stoplight before Oliver screamed at me to not text and drive. Even though I wasn't texting and driving, he was right that I shouldn't have been so distracted. Gorgeou...

a moon, worn as if it had been a shell: National Sibling's Day Couldn't Come Quickly Enough

http://elizabethaquino.blogspot.com/2013/04/national-siblings-day-couldnt-come.html

Wednesday, April 10, 2013. National Sibling's Day Couldn't Come Quickly Enough. So, let's just say that today wasn't the greatest over here in the land of a moon, worn as if it had been a shell. Right into the dirt that never grows grass under the tree. Trying to pull the stroller and Sophie up while wondering whether her arm was broken and whether one's stitches from the minor skin surgery had burst - no lifting or pulling for three weeks and otherwise taking it easy,. And fuel for fodder,. The drive to...

a moon, worn as if it had been a shell: The Simpsons and the Boston Bombings

http://elizabethaquino.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-simpsons-and-boston-bombings.html

Friday, May 15, 2015. The Simpsons and the Boston Bombings. Fault" when Homer fails to show up at a therapy session. The other episode I remember is when Homer finds himself on death row and then realizes that he's actually part of a reality show. When I looked it up this morning on Wikipedia, I saw that the title of that episode was The Frying Game. May 15, 2015 at 2:05 PM. May 15, 2015 at 8:31 PM. Jo - Thats such an interesting idea. That man will probably be on death row for many years anyway, and...

It's raining in Baltimore, baby...but everything else is the same: August 2015

http://raininginbaltimorebaby.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

It's raining in Baltimore, baby.but everything else is the same. Monday, August 10, 2015. I’m at the beach where I’ve been lucky enough to go for the past three years, thanks to Maggie May Etheridge. No, not through her dollars or mad hook-ups, but for pointing me to a blog where I eventually met the blogger’s sister and then her friends and then, well, aren’t we all in this crazy thing together in our little blog-land? It was casual, and we all felt free to ask the hard things. Having a baby has been a ...

It's raining in Baltimore, baby...but everything else is the same: March 2014

http://raininginbaltimorebaby.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

It's raining in Baltimore, baby.but everything else is the same. Monday, March 24, 2014. Cups of tea I forget to drink. I also have a very tentative "offer" from another place that would come with relocation. Decisions will be made, and the world won't end. Lives won't be affected- only mine. And what does that matter? We were going back and forth, and I mentioned about how my sister's first reaction is "but won't you be bored. If you move away from DC? Thursday, March 6, 2014. Blowing in the wind. I was...

Dearest You: June 2010

http://youdearestyou.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

One of these days, I'm going to sit down and write a long letter. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Do you remember tap dancing down a set of cement stairs with me? It" was a term I'd heard my stepmother's single friends apply to men and I thought it sounded grown up. I thought it sounded right. "It" meant that you were my soul mate. "It" meant that you were "the one," but in a more subtle way. Unlike most couples who date in high school, we have managed to live happily ever after. That time at your caberet when yo...

Dearest You: Twenty-Seven

http://youdearestyou.blogspot.com/2010/09/twenty-seven.html

One of these days, I'm going to sit down and write a long letter. Thursday, September 23, 2010. 8220;You know,” my Dad said once, “she could have been a beauty queen. The real deal, Miss America and everything, but here she is out here in the sticks. A real diamond in the rough.”. Just as long ago, I had a hand in building your home, you have had a hand in building me. I am sending you love. November 9, 2010 at 7:37 PM. And she is lucky to have someone appreciate her. art in red wagons: April 2015

http://artinredwagons.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Art in red wagons. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Aluminum can flowers (tutorial). I'm always on the lookout for new ways to recycle in my art. Here's a fun way to reuse aluminum cans to make "drought resistant flowers." You can't kill them, I promise! Start with a colorful can. Cut off the top. This is surprisingly easy to do with your "good" pair of "crap designated" scissors - mine are old Fiskars). Cut the sides of the can into 16 or so spokes. I start with 4ths, then 8ths, then 16ths). This is the FRONT:.

art in red wagons: making faces

http://artinredwagons.blogspot.com/2015/05/making-faces.html

Art in red wagons. Monday, May 4, 2015. I've been making garden fairies and needed some good faces - let me show you what I learned . I began with magazine pictures. And used this old template I have for making circles:. I use the circle to crop in REALLY close on the features (this is good old Martha). Cropping super close is what gives you the PERFECT sun or moon face. I cut away all the non-essential stuff like ears, hair, neck, forehead, chin. The closer in you crop, the more moonlike it comes out.

American Lit 201

Monday, April 16, 2012. English Lit 201 Project [Elizabeth Prince]. While there are no apparent different races or ethnicities in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Black Cat”, there is a relationship between man and animal. In the beginning, the narrator is described as “a sensitive child, alienated from others by virtue of his sensitivity, who turned to animals for companionship.”. The relationship early in the story between the narrator and his cat is one of mutual love. He snatches him up and Pluto bites his hand.

Monday, March 26, 2018. Archival Footage on Epilepsy Day. The next page had this scrap:. I think I've told you before that I didn't write much of anything for many years after Sophie's diagnosis in June of 1995. An old writer friend of mine who developed Hodgkins disease in his early twenties once told me that he found it impossible to write anything during his treatment, yet I know countless people who've written quite brilliantly through whatever tribulations they've undergone.
