Don't Print This: October 2013
http://dontprintthis.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Available for birthdays, weddings and bar mitzvahs. Tuesday, October 8, 2013. I find myself thinking about religion lately, but not in the sense of wondering about the existence or nature of God. It's more about how and why people come to it. Actual miles may vary, of course. Others immerse themselves in religion to make a kind of armor against thoughts and actions that repulse even them. I've heard of pedophiles, perverts and self-loathing homosexuals joining the clergy because they think that surro...
Don't Print This: Resume-3
http://dontprintthis.blogspot.com/2015/03/resume-3.html
Available for birthdays, weddings and bar mitzvahs. Monday, March 30, 2015. I never accomplished much in Bluefield. I managed to con my way into working a few extra shifts here and there, but it was always minor stuff. My best shift was the Sunday morning ghetto shift. I worked Sunday mornings from 6 to noon, played a couple of canned national programs and only really hosted an hour or so before the afternoon guy came in. I was never considered for anything more substantial. A couple months after I left,...

Available for birthdays, weddings and bar mitzvahs. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Things I will do more of in 2014:. But that's not really that hard. I think I had like 12 posts in 2013. It just never caught on with me again and I never found time, but I'm looking at returning to creative writing and this is a good place to exercise the habit a bit. Look for a way to make some more money or get a different job:. A man has to eat. That sort of relates to the above, but also, it's a lot of work trying to mai...

http://dontprintthis.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Available for birthdays, weddings and bar mitzvahs. Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Interlude at a chain diner. The girlfriend's car had a flat; the second in just a couple of months. It was the rear passenger side wheel. She might have caught a corner wrong or it might just be the car, but a jagged two-inch tear stood out like a stab wound in the black rubber. Besides, the car was practically new and came with free roadside assistance - why not leave it to the professionals. We didn't see the lady who took ou...

OCCASIONAL BLOG: August 2012
http://occasionalblogging.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Monday, August 13, 2012. The Reality of Part-timers (Re:the Dreams of Academics). We are cancelling part-time faculty orientation due to low participation. Of 34 PT faculty, only 7 have indicated they will attend. They list those who confirmed attendance and one "maybe." Is this a list of the honorable part-timers? Does this imply a list of shame for those not on the list? We appreciate the enthusiasm demonstrated by those who responded.

http://occasionalblogging.blogspot.com/2013/03/what-dreams-may-dumb.html
Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Friday, March 22, 2013. What Dreams May Dumb. I had a dream about you, baby. A dream about you, baby". Give sorrow words: the grief that does not speak. Whispers the o'er-fraught heart, and bids it break.". This may be one of those posts where people tell me, "I am looking into your soul." Please, I have no soul; at least none that I can detect. The dream was this:. That kiss reminded me why I had fallen so crazy for her many years ago. Sure ...

OCCASIONAL BLOG: November 2012
http://occasionalblogging.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Thursday, November 08, 2012. This very silly, but I'm bummed that the KC Blockbuster is closing. Part of my joy is to run in the store, before the Kroger jaunt, and see if there's anything that might be worth renting. Say goodbye to that convenience now. I had a pass that only cost me $15 a month. No due dates, no hassles, no pay for individual rentals- it was all cool. Where will we end up? I will not pay 7 or 8 bucks to rent a movie.

http://occasionalblogging.blogspot.com/2013/01/kubrick-kubrick-kubrick.html
Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Friday, January 11, 2013. What is it about Kubrick? Is it his color schemes? Is it the extreme characters he brings us? Little Alex: lad gone wrong or victim of society and. 2001: A Space Odyssey. The moral dilemma of. Was completely lost on me when I first saw the film. I was in love with the style of the clothes, the language, the outrageous characters and of course, the ultra-violence. The boy has not a real choice, has he? Clearly divided...

Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Wednesday, September 19, 2012. My poor old guitar has seen the best and worst of me. We are one in the same. We both are tired of weddings. My first "real" gig was a wedding, but it was very unsatisfying. How foolish and naive. To the "civilians" out there, the wedding gig is certainly one of the best paying gigs in the working musician's jobs. They come in two distinct categories: really easy and nightmarish. Why such a dichotomy? As the rai...

OCCASIONAL BLOG: My Favorite Films
http://occasionalblogging.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-favorite-films.html
Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Friday, January 04, 2013. Ultimately film may be about money, but magical things can happen. And lives can be changed. Before I got off (no pun intended) onto the subject of love, I had the intention of blogging about film. Around Christmas, we had some people over to the house. A person pulled out about 5 DVDs out of my collection and casually stated, "I'm going to borrow these.". While I was boiling inside,. I take films very seriously.

Occasional Blog (where ideas are left to fend for themselves). Tuesday, October 09, 2012. I Watch Too Much TV. TV is a big part of what I do. TV has the best writing now and probably has had for some time. This badass and truly sick (Thank you, Uncle Bill. Series is a drama masterpiece. Consistently high quality episodes with several "WTF" moments. It burns with a light that blinds. If you've missed out, there's time to catch up before some blogger spoils it for you. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Born in the U.S.A. Congratulations to Sandra Bullock re her new baby boy. According to news reports, Louis Bullock was born in New Orleans and adopted by Ms. Bullock in January. With all the attention on foreign adoptions these days it’s marvelous to see a celebrity respond to a child in our own backyard. My husband and I had a two-year-old blond, blue-eyed daughter when we adopted a bi-racial boy and girl in the early 70s. Do you know anything about their background? Single wo...

Available for birthdays, weddings and bar mitzvahs. Friday, September 18, 2015. 30 days of Night: four. The waiting was the hardest part. A week out from when all the jobs that could be had would be posted, I was at a library to see a demonstration of a 3-D printer, and I took almost all of their books on resumes, cover letters and interviews. At least, I checked out everything written in the past ten years. The list had yet to be posted. I figured I was fucked. I had eight years in and about three w...
