The New Rubygame.org - Rubygame

http://rubygame.org/blog/2011/07/12/the-new-rubygame-org

Game programming should be fun. 171; Thinking About Engines. Forums will be archived. The New Rubygame.org. For the past few weeks, I have been working on renovating the Rubygame web site. Today, I have finally deployed the biggest chunk of that effort: migrating the home page. I have also recently migrated the wiki to Github. And will soon be shutting down the forums. One other effect of the site now being static HTML, is that there are no comment submission forms on the blog posts anymore. For some...

Controlling Arduino with a USB Joystick - Mark Villacampa

http://markvillacampa.com/2012/01/23/controlling-arduino-with-a-usb-joystick

Controlling Arduino with a USB Joystick. In a previous post I explained how to talk to Arduino through the serial port. Now taking advantage of this usb-to-serial interface we’re going to send instructions to Arduino using a USB Joystick. Any Playstation-like controller or Xbox 360 controller with a USB receiver will work. However if you’re on Mac you will need this drivers for the Xbox 360 controller. To be the best option. It’s a Ruby framework for game developers, inspired in Pygame. If a button press...

Thinking About Engines - Rubygame

http://rubygame.org/blog/2011/03/13/thinking-about-engines

Game programming should be fun. 171; Ruby-SDL-FFI 0.4 released. The New Rubygame.org. Both of those issues should be solved now, but downloading and installing the SDL libraries themselves is still a barrier to using Rubygame. It would be much nicer if Rubygame could work right out of the box, without the user needing to install any extra libraries. Supporting multiple engines would be a lot of work, and to be honest I’m not sure it would be worth it. A more practical approach might be to find some s...
