A blog from Dobies: words, images and ideas to inspire keen gardeners – young, old, and 'in-between'. Return to Dobies Shop. Shop Dobies.co.uk. July 3, 2015. In July we start to harvest what we’ve sown and grown and have the pleasure of tucking into fresh, unmessed-about-with home grown veg. We’re all famili...

Links to resources - I feel a need, a need for green

Our attempts to change a virtual wasteland into green. Pictures showing the progress and changes still taking place. Our design, conception and evolution. Close up pictures of some of the plants we have added. Here are a few links to resources I've come across on the internet that I've found useful and/or interesting. I haven't ordered any plants online yet so none of these links are intended to be recommendations for any of their products. They are just sites I've used for information and inspiration.

purple veg: Pond
http://purplevegetables.blogspot.com/2015/01/pond.html
Saturday, 17 January 2015. We woke up this morning to a little bit of snowfall, and I like the way it's falling on the frozen pond surface:. Making it took a few weeks of digging last summer. I started by marking out the shape, it doesn't show in the photo but the ground slopes down quite a bit so it took a while to find a curve that fitted:. It's about half a metre at the deepest point. At the downhill end I dug a separate pit for a bog garden, so that when the water overflows it falls into the bog:.

Wednesday, January 18, 2006. Other than the areas where I still have things growing, the entire plot is now dug over - and many parts of it covered and manured. This is definitely the most organised the plot has ever been. The whole plot is pictured below left, and the Broad Beans under their cover of fleece are shown on the right. Posted by Dave at 1:55 PM.
