Next, let's move on to the definition of a crisis. What's a crisis? Is my crisis as dire as yours? Is it a massive dip in the stock market? A couple of major banks going bust? With that objective in mind, I'm launching this blog to share my insights and thereby help my clients, partners and friends around the world advance from Brazil beginner status on all fronts. http://www.dispatchesfrombrazil.com/2009/02/dare-to-be-different.html

On the ground insights to help our friends and contacts better understand Brazil's complexities and promise. Saturday, February 7, 2009. Beware of Economists Who Dare to be Different. We now all see that Roubini’s call was eventually proven correct. Yet let’s ponder the counterfactual: what if there had not been a crisis? Would Roubini still have been so busy on the interview circuit? Which then begs the question: if you were an economist and you wanted to get your name in the media—perhaps because...

Dispatches from Brazil: April 2009

http://www.dispatchesfrombrazil.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

On the ground insights to help our friends and contacts better understand Brazil's complexities and promise. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Back from the Northeast. Well, our plan to post brief updates (not a la Twitter, mind you) has not worked! Do we have no excuse for having neglected our faithful readership?
