Many of the members of Desperate Measures started to meet for jazz jam sessions in late 2008 but it wasn't until after their first performance in Tavistock Town Hall in May 2009 that they started to think of themselves as a band. Rehearsals moved from a cellar in a private house to the village hall in Meavy which has the advantage of being opposite a nice pub. Since those early days, some members have moved on and some new faces have appeared.

The music we play is mainly the jazz standards but also includes some more modern jazz. The videos below have been reccorded over the six or seven years. During that time we have a few changes of band members so the videos show different line-ups for the band, but give an indication of some of the tunes we play. Bedford Hotel, Sunday Jazz Lunches 2016. We've played our last Bedford gig for this year, but fear not, we'll be back next year, every two months. We usually start around 12.15 and play until 14.15.
