Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Drawing twirls in Illustrator. In Illustrator you can make your own brushes which makes it so much easier to draw twirly branches and twirls in general. Here's a tut about how to make fancy twirls in Illustrator. First of all draw a nice curvy line with either the pen tool or which ever tool you prefer. Illustrator will join the two lines. If the anchor points are on top of each other then a 'Join' panel will appear. Select the option smooth. Now we are going to make a brush.

Friday, June 12, 2009. Illustrator tip: Resizing your artboard in CS4. This tip is only for CS4 users. (IMHO it's worth getting if you don't have it yet ). Say you've made an illustration on an A4 sized artboard, but your illustration is a lot smaller and you want to get rid of the excess white paper. That can easily be solved. In the example below the black stroke is the A4 paper. 1 Draw a rectangle on top of the illustration. This will be your new page size. Make sure the rectangle is selected.

Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Live paint is an function in Illustrator which in my opinion doesn't get enough attention and it is a powerful tool. Pathfinders cut the shapes into separate shapes whereas live paint leaves the objects editable it's non destructive. Woensdag 25 november 2009. InDesigntip: lagen via toetscombinaties. Een paar korte tips om snel lagen op de juiste positie aan te maken in InDesign. Standaard wordt een nieuwe laag altijd bovenaan geplaatst. Tenzij je de volgende toetsen gebruikt. Command/Control op het paginasymbooltje in het lagenpalet. De laag wordt direct boven de actieve laag geplaatst. Command/Control-Alt klik op het paginasymbooltje in het lagenpalet. De laag wordt onder de actieve laag geplaatst. Donderdag 10 juni 2010. InDesign tip: groeperen in CS5. Een korte tip over groepen in InDesign CS5. Om een groep aan te maken selecteer je de gewenste objecten en kiest uit het Objectmenu Groeperen. Wil je later echter nog iets toevoegen dan selecteer je de groep en het nieuwe object en kiest opnieuw uit het Objectmenu Groeperen. Maandag 28 september 2009. To Save or not to Save! Soms denk je bij jezelf 'Heb ik dit bestand nu al opgeslagen of niet? In CS4 zie je dit nu in één oogopslag. Staat er namelijk een sterretje (asterisk) achter de bstandsnaam, dan is het bestand nog niet opgeslagen. Sla je het bestand vervolgens op dan verdwijnt dit symbool. Zo gauw je echter maar iets doet verschijnt het weer. Of kijk naar het kleine icoontje voor de bestandsnaam. Wordt deze licht weergegeven dan moet het bestand nog worden opgeslagen.
