有 東方設計掌門人 封號、在台灣設計界居領袖地位的知名設計師陳俊良認為，談華人設計，不應只停留在探討表象的美學、圖騰，他語重心長地說 我們應該去尋找華人文化的態度，它潛藏的氣質，這才是探討華人設計的根本。 從2001年以 久違了東風 被Savignac 法國國際海報沙龍展設計大賽選為 年度世界最美麗海報 、2005年以 天圓地方 榮獲亞洲最具影響力大獎，到近年來策展、創設服飾品牌 東裝 ，知名設計師陳俊良的作品，總是散發著濃烈的東方美學風格，因此被媒體封為 東方設計掌門人。 作品風格被冠上 東方 似乎代表著某種潮流 陳俊良卻不這麼認為， 我只是愛我的母親，幫我自己的母文化講話而已，這是天經地義的事，有人會把愛母親一直掛在嘴邊嗎. 以文字為例，陳俊良指出，漢字中有800多個象形字都是對稱性，比如金、木、水、火、土、天、人、東、西、南、北….等，同樣的，大自然裡頭也有很多東西都是對稱，比如蝴蝶的翅膀、樹木的枝枒、葉脈、以及人類的四肢、五官等， 因此華人文化有種仿自然的本源，這和北歐設計講究人性化其實有異曲同工之妙，我們不需要被西方人牽著鼻子走，這些東西早就存在我們的文化裡了。
