Thursday, November 11, 2010. How hot is it? Monday, November 8, 2010. We hauled rocks over to put under the tires of the truck. The truck was really stuck- this is actually an improvement after two or three days of work. A four wheel drive Mercedes truck came to try to help pull them out. It got stuck too. Out on the desert.

Saturday, June 26, 2010. The Adventure Begins Here. As many of you are aware, I have longed to go to Africa for a very long time. I thank you so much for your encouragement of these desires. By God’s good grace and perfect timing, I am now presented with the opportunity to serve the people and the culture that I have been mysteriously drawn to for so long. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). African Adventure: A little bit about everything

http://beccaisinafrica.blogspot.com/2010/09/little-bit-about-everything.html

Wednesday, September 22, 2010. A little bit about everything. Everyday last week we read with 4 children at the Primary School: Eluid, Sarah, Salome, and Emanuel. I really enjoyed getting to know these kids and their stories. Most of them walk 2 hours just to get to school! And all of them know 3 languages! It was a pleasure to encourage them. We even prayed together and Eluid prayed in Kikuyu which was so beautiful to hear aloud! Yesterday we went to a Masai Village. Samuel, a guard at RVA, offered ...

African Adventure: October 2010

http://beccaisinafrica.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 22, 2010. Let me introduce you to the lovely children that we homeschool and care for. Is 8 and is the oldest. He's been nicknamed 'Dances with Chickens' He goes and checks the coop everyday for both eggs or chicks. It's a good thing too because there are about 13 chicks just in the time we've been here! But it's not just chickens: he LOVES birds! When we were still in Kijabe, all he could talk about was wanting to be here and go bird trapping! Even Rachel says she's 'wierd smart'. She an...

Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Actually, she taught me to make Anjera, Chapatis and Tortillas all at once! It was great spending so much time with her and sharing with eachother about our families. This was in some ways my goodbye to her. She had us over for lunch (on my birthday! And gave us traditional Gabra cloth dresses as a goodbye present to us. There were alot more events in the last week that all helped us to say goodbye. Here are some of those stories. Then we ran into the two pastor-friends we m...

African Adventure: An adventure & notes from the 'quote book'

http://beccaisinafrica.blogspot.com/2010/10/adventure-notes-from-quote-book.html

Thursday, October 14, 2010. An adventure and notes from the 'quote book'. I have SOOOOO much to say! But since Emma has already said a few things I would only be repeating, I'll be directing you to her blog. She put in so many hilarious details, I really couldn't have said it better: emma-coates.blogspot.com. And if that has not enticed you enough perhaps this photo will:. And yes, that would be a broken rear axle! Now for some humor and pure randomness:. Because it is very modest here, I often say 'Ah!

Emma is in Kenya. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.". Youth meetings were always interesting, they were led almost entirely in Gabra. We didn't understand a word of what was going on! And yet despite that we somehow managed to enjoy every minute of it. (wow, cheese Emma, cheese). Back: Guyo Jillo, Fathe, Bebi. Clockwise around the circle: Tura, Guyo Berilli, Galgallo, Guyo Ali, Duub. PS Were you counting Guyos? Yes, there was 3 of them.

http://emma-coates.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Emma is in Kenya. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.". What IS the point? For some the point may be to achieve great things, to do well and be recognised for it. For some it’s about relationships, finding love or having the most facebook friends. The question is what’s the point for you? What makes you keep going everyday? Why do you do what you do, say what you say, go where you go? Why, in short, do you live? I walk as though blind.

Desert Harrier

Wednesday, January 7, 2015. AZ Big Year - Recovery. For the past week I have been trying to recover from the previous year. Late in 2013 I set a goal for myself to observe 400 species of birds in Arizona during the 2014 calendar year. My goal was personal, could I do it? I believed this would be a good incentive for me to explore and learn about new birding locations around the state. I knew that I had no planned trips outside of Arizona except for a week in Colorado. I was out birding 305 days in 2014.
