Confessions of a Small Town Pastor: Patience Required
http://pastoralconfessions.blogspot.com/2009/05/patience-required.html
Confessions of a Small Town Pastor. The greatest truths are lived in the smallest details. Saturday, May 09, 2009. Of all the fruit of the Spirit, I think the one that I struggle the most to cultivate is patience. Others who observe me might not think this so, given that I can be perceived as quiet and easy-going. But talk to my wife and she will relate a different story! People who live with you inevitably know you better than people who are only—sometimes at best—acquainted with you. Fruit of the Spirit.

A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Thursday, July 27, 2006. Can any parent claim to have the perfect child? Can any parent claim to be perfect? And "cu-urd" (coloured) upon it as well: on the bottom right of the mustard-coloured cover, and on two of the interior "onionskin" pages. And "Paper is for colouring! Are frequently heard in our home, unfortunately we have never yet added the addendum "But not paper in books! In the large side pockets. With appro...

Montessori at Home: Montessori Mathematics: The Complete Bead Material - Part 5
http://moosehuntress.blogspot.com/2009/11/montessori-mathematics-complete-bead_23.html
A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Monday, November 23, 2009. Montessori Mathematics: The Complete Bead Material - Part 5. Making the Bead Squares. The bead squares are not much more difficult to make than the bead bars, but there's no quick-and-sneaky way to make them. There's no easy way to make the bead squares either, so you might as well get used to it! Step 1: Gather your materials. Step 2: Cut your plastic canvas. Step 3: Cut your wire. Step 8: Thread...

Montessori at Home: Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!!
http://moosehuntress.blogspot.com/2008/03/happy-saint-patricks-day.html
A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Monday, March 17, 2008. Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I was going to post some more pictures of different activities we've been doing in school, but got sidetracked by someone else's blog, wrote a LONG comment there, and decided that I'd post that comment here. I was responding to the blog written yesterday, March 16th, by "Zirbert" (whom I actually know in real life, but don't expect to hear his name around here! Which isn't ...

A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Friday, February 22, 2008. Run-of-the-Mill Schoolday, Part 1. Here is a pretty run-of-the-mill schoolday for us:. Ella often begins with a practical life activity. Here she is pouring rice from one creamer to another. She is very careful to pick up any little spills of rice that sneak away! Her new challenge was the belt buckle dressing frame that I had just finished making. After a lot of "But I can't do its! She's getting...

Montessori at Home: "Make Your Own Sensorial Material" - Part 2
http://moosehuntress.blogspot.com/2008/03/make-your-own-sensorial-material-part-2.html
A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Make Your Own Sensorial Material" - Part 2. I would like to explain here 1) the reason why I decided to make "authentic" Montessori materials as opposed to going with the "good enough" funny blocks. Which I think are an excellent toy, and I will continue to use, by the way) and 2) how I. I had been able to make the sensorial. Pink Tower and Brown Stair Matters. To the Montessori method. Once I saw...

Montessori at Home: New Montessori Activities
http://moosehuntress.blogspot.com/2008/03/im-constantly-adding-and-adapting.html
A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Tuesday, March 04, 2008. I'm constantly adding and adapting the activities Ella does for school. Here's some of the newer stuff. This is a practical-life activity. Essentially, she's learning to use tongs to transfer an item (in this case rocks! From place to place. She soon figured out that she could get more if she sort of "scooped" up as many as she could before closing the tongs together. WARNING - NUDITY AHEAD! Have en...

Montessori at Home: Square of Pythagoras - First Presentation
http://moosehuntress.blogspot.com/2011/03/square-of-pythagoras-first-presentation.html
A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Tuesday, March 01, 2011. Square of Pythagoras - First Presentation. Thanks to all who inquired. No, I'm not dead! It's been almost a year and a half since my last post, and while my life has been moving quickly onward I've been facing it mostly with glazed eyes and an air of confusion. Such is life with twin boys. The square of Pythagoras is basically the multiplication times table in visual form. The smallest square is...

Montessori at Home: My Montessori Classroom and Materials

A pictoral and written log of a Homeschooling Mother using the Montessori Method. Thursday, February 21, 2008. My Montessori Classroom and Materials. I haven't posted since 2006, which is very, very sad. So, I've changed the name and the focus of this blog, so that (hopefully) I will remember it exists. I'm now homeschooling my pre-school daughter using the Montessori method, and I would like to use this as a pictoral and written account of this adventure. Here is my homeschool classroom:. This is our ge...
