To the north, a line following the Laxford River from Laxford Bridge and along Lochs Stack, More, Merkland, Ghrama and Shin (A837). The A839 from Lairg, then the A837 from Rosehall via Oykel Bridge to Ledmore junction, then following the A835 south to Ardmair, and then west along the coastline to Achiltibuie.

The Breadalbane Deer Management Group (BDMG) covers just over 90,000 ha. It has 28 subscribing members, and was formed in 2003 as an amalgamation of the East Glenlyon and West Rannoch Deer Management Groups. It is not part of any other local association, and operates under its own constitution. The Group subscribes to the Association of Deer Management Groups (ADMG). The boundaries of its area are:. In the north: Loch Rannoch. In the east: the A846 Keltneyburn to Tummel Bridge road.

The Glen Strathfarrar DMG formerly comprised a sub-group of the larger, South Ross DMG, becoming a Deer Management Group in its own right in 2012 following the division of the South Ross area into smaller, more manageable units. The South Ross DMG was one of the first DMGs to be formed back in the 1960’s making this area one of the earliest examples of collaborative deer management. The five DMGs in the South Ross Deer Management Area continue to liaise together. A map of the DMG area is available here.

Knoydart DMG lies to the north of Spean Bridge in Lochaber, and to the west of Loch Lochy and Invergarry. It occupies much of the Knoydart peninsula, with the west part of the peninsula being covered by the West Knoydart DMG. The broad boundaries of the area are:. 8211; in the east: Loch Lochy up to Invergarry. 8211; in the north: a line following Loch Garry, Loch Quoich and through Loch Hourn to Barrisdale Bay,. 8211; in the south: from Morar along Loch Morar and Loch Arkaig back to Loch Lochy.

It has 5 members, and was formed in 2011, when the former South West Ross DMG was split into smaller Groups. The Group operates under its own constitution and subscribes to the Association of Deer Management Groups (ADMG). The Gairloch Conservation Unit (GCU) DMG is situated in Wester Ross in the North-West Highlands, over an area of land bordered by Loch Maree on the East side, Glen Torridon to the South, the sea-lochs of Upper Loch Torridon and Loch Torridon to the West, and Loch Gairloch along much of its Northern march. Arran DMG |
The Arran DMG occupies the northern half of the island of Arran, lying in the Firth of Clyde and co-incides with the main population of deer on the island. It is the most southerly upland deer management group in Scotland. The southern boundary of the group runs from just north of Brodick on the east coast on the island to Machrie on the western coast. The Black Mount Deer Management Group (BMDMG) area covers North Argyll, crossing into the Highlands, between Dalmally and the village of Glencoe. The area includes Rannoch Moor and Black Mount and extends down Loch Etive to Taynuilt and to the North West to Kentallen. The deer population within this group is almost entirely red with the occasional sighting of roe and reports of some sika in the south west of the group area. The deer management in this plan predominantly relates to red deer.

East Sutherland DMG lies inland from the east coast between Golspie and Helmsdale.The broad boundaries of the area are:. 8211; in the east: the A9/ coastline running from Helmsdale to just south of Golspie. 8211; in the south: the A839 from the A9 to Lairg. 8211; in the west: the A836 running north from Lairg to Altnaharra,. 8211; in the north:, the B873 Strathnaver road running up to Syre, followed by the B871 to the Strath of Kildonan and then southwards back to Helmsdale again.
