One guy's view of Lubbock TX. Friday, July 12, 2013. Do the right thing LUBBOCK. Welcome Natalie Maines back to Lubbock. Honor her in the Buddy Holly plaza as one of Lubbock's great musicians. OK, OK, let me start out by saying, I'm relatively new here; I have been here only eleven months, not even a year. So I don't know the whole story; I don't know Natalie Maines; I've never met her family. So you can take what I'm saying with that in mind. When a teenager says to her mother, "I hate you, you're the w...

One guy's view of Lubbock TX. Thursday, February 26, 2015. I tell everyone stay off the Marsha Sharp; hills are the hardest. Hey, people in Iowa and Minnesota don't know how to handle those glazed hilly on ramps either. Staying off them is the best way. They shouldn't have messed with the groundhog, I say. I'm very superstitious. You diss the groundhog, what is he supposed to do? Six weeks of winter, that's not proper punishment, that's just the usual. But a couple of ice storms will go a long way.

The writing of Thomas Leverett. Monday, April 6, 2015. 5 Years of Semantics. Noah's new poetry book, now available at CreateSpace. Noah is my son. I make the exception to publicize someone else's book at my press because 1) it's good, and 2) he's like me, he doesn't have much of a publicity engine. He needs all the help he can get! But he's writing more, and doing well. Keep up with him here! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Quaker plays for first days. Stories of a Rake (2011). A Dozen Crime Stories.

One guy's view of Lubbock TX. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. 11 am kickoff times. One of the things I've learned about Texas is that football is year-round news. Even now, when we all should be concentrating on the NBA finals or the NHL Stanley Cup, which have been unreasonably and unseasonably stretched into June when it's sweltering outside and it's difficult to care, instead we are worried about all the 11 am kickoff times. It's ironic to me that this whole 11 am thing is driven by television. I guess I...
