Mäpuru (note Yolŋu spelling using the ä, pronounced XX). Arnhemland is like the European Union, made up of many different nations, each clan-nation with their own language, each with its own national estate. When they first arrived last Tuesday, a week seemed like a significant time for them to be here – but with the whirlwind of activities and workshop days this flew by in the blink of an eye. By partnering with the comm...

Friends of Mapuru seek to build on existing relationships created through their visits to Mapuru, Arnhem Land. Weave Down South 2016. After three separate flights and a very long day travelling, the weavers arrived in Melbourne at 12pm on Tuesday night. Such tired but happy eyes as we greeted them in the early hours of the morning.
