Daily Words and Acts. Daily Words and Acts. Archive for February, 2010. The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. February 14, 2010. Excellent. Although it focused on some of the main topics–history, foreign locales, art in some form–none of these three things were done very well. However, when she describes both modern Paris and historic France, Kostova doesn’t inspire any wanderlust. This is a fun read, and certainly worth the time. (Don’t be dismayed by the size–it’s not that long a...February 8, 2010.

Daily Words and Acts. Daily Words and Acts. Laquo; The Minotaur by Barbara Vine. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. April 15, 2010. Daily Words and Acts. Daily Words and Acts. Archive for March, 2010. The Watsons by Jane Austen. March 8, 2010. Does seem like a pretty bleak beginning for a novel. I could imagine a happy ending for maybe one or two of the sisters, but it seemed virtually impossible that the entire Watson family could conceivably find happiness. And for lack of a better description, many of the characters in. I even forgot that there was a third sister! More to come about that soon. Posted in Austen 2010. March 4, 2010.
