Shutterbugs: August 2010
http://shutterbugsmd.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 16, 2010. I saw some odd things last weekend on my jaunt down south. At The Shed in Ocean Springs, we saw these wind chimes.made from pork ribs. Weird. But cool. At Flounders in Pensacola Beach, this sign was hanging over the entrance. I guess they wanted to make sure no customers left that couldn't find a spot right in front! And this one, also in Pensacola Beach:. Gotta love the beach! Sunday, August 15, 2010. It was a nice day.very hot. OKone more for the road! Saturday, August 14, 2010.

Shutterbugs: January 2012

Saturday, January 28, 2012. Yet Another Pinewood Derby Saturday. I attended my second Pinewood Derby of the season today. Unfortunately, I arrived when they had a lot of lag time. There was 45 minutes to the next race, and even though most of the racers were present, they were still waiting on one to arrive. Figures. I still had a great time looking at the cars; this one was my favorite. God Bless America! These made me ready for lunch! A hot dog and Ice cream sandwich. WHat more could you ask for? They ...

http://shutterbugsmd.blogspot.com/2013/01/its-corny-i-know.html
Wednesday, January 2, 2013. It's Corny, I Know. Who doesn't love it? I made a wonderful corn chowder tonight for supper, compliments of The Pioneer Woman. Her blog is fantastic.lots of great pictures and great food. This is the first recipe of hers that I've tried, and it has made me realize that I need to try more. Recipe can be found here. All ingredients are assembled. Man, I love bacon. I could have used the entire package, but I only used about 3 slices. Saved more bacon for later. Cover and let it ...

Monday, May 31, 2010. For Those Who Served. What a time to reflect on those who have served our country.those who came home, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Saturday JJ and I had the privilege of participating in welcoming the 'Nam Knights, a motorcycle club that is a part of Rolling Thunder. This club comes to DC every Memorial Day and rides their cycles by Arlington. Fire trucks from 2 local departments sent their ladder trucks out to hold the American flag over the driveway. Remembering tod...

Sunday, January 2, 2011. From Fabric to Rags. Last week I began my first quilt.a rag quilt. I got the pattern from a fellow teacher at school. It seemed easy enough for a first project, so I bought all the fabric on Black Friday and began the quilt after Christmas. You need 1 yard each of 8 differnt flannel fabrics. I went with a winter theme, because that's the most of what I could find in the store. And of course, a rotary cutter, mat, and ruler. That didn't take long. Then wash and dry. Check the ...

Sunday, January 13, 2013. Yum, Sunday Dinner! It's Sunday. Guess it's time for Sunday dinner. I was in the mood for pot roast. Who isn't? I decided to check the internet for a new recipe, and I came across my new favorite, the Pioneer Woman! She really does have some great recipes, and most of them are pretty easy to follow. Here's her recipe here. I made a few small changes. Nothing too drastic. I trimmed the ends and peeled 6 carrots. Once the onions were nicely browned, I did the same with the carrots.

Shutterbugs: October 2010

Saturday, October 30, 2010. A Month's Worth of Life. It's been a crazy month. Once I was officially hired full-time by the school, suddenly I was required to provide lesson plans, reports, all sorts of stuff! I have been barely keeping my head above water.at school. Don't even ask about the house. Yikes. So in a nutshell, here's been my month. Nicky and I walked/jogged a 5K this morning to benefit the middle school PTSA and the high school cross-country team. We did pretty well, although it looked li...

Shutterbugs: Happy 2013!
http://shutterbugsmd.blogspot.com/2013/01/happy-2013.html
Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Well, it's the start of yet another year. My blogging has been like the rest of my life.hit-or-miss and a bit lackluster. But hey, it's the start of a new year, and a fresh look at life, right? Last New Year's I made a "list" (I won't call them resolutions) of things I hoped to get accomplished in 2012. Here is that list- let's see how I did! 1 Make better food choices. 2 Write my choices down. I do better when I'm accountable, if only to myself. 3 Make time for exercise! Thanks...

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. LOTS of Little Stuff. Arg Lots of little things done from the cedar closet today. Many, many pictures in the bottoms of containers, in plastic bags, in fire boxes; most of them were from my parents' house. It's very slow going. But it's going. Here's the closet now, with some bins put back, after having gone through and gotten rid of stuff that wasn't necessary, like power bills from 1967. Anyone need any Beanie Babies? My granddaddy was a coin collector, and this was one of sev...

Shutterbugs: Off to the Races
http://shutterbugsmd.blogspot.com/2013/01/off-to-races.html
Saturday, January 12, 2013. Off to the Races. Today was the first of 3 Pinewood Derby races I get to attend as a Unit Commissioner. I visited my old Pack today, Pack 789. They put me to work, judging cars and tallying the results! Some of my favorites. A view from the top of the track.and they're off! Wonder if this was the same kid who did the Hershey bar last year! Yes, the exhaust fumes are real kernels of popcorn! Three little piggies cried "Whee, whee, whee! All the way down the track! Made for my 4.
