About the Cotswold Pottery
http://cotswoldpottery.co.uk/aboutthe.htm
The Cotswold Pottery is a small family-run studio started in 1973 by John and Jude Jelfs. The pottery is all made here entirely by hand. We use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible for our glazes - clays, limestone, woodash. Over the forty years since we started, our work has evolved individually, and has been exhibited world-wide at leading galleries. For a virtual tour!

Soda glazed jug by. John Jelfs - biography. John was born in 1946 and studied ceramics at Cheltenham College of Art. His pots are all hand-thrown, and the focus has always been on pure form. John uses celadon, ochre and shino glazes, made from wood ash and clay, ingredients local to the studio. Decoration is kept to a minimum. He also soda-fires and has a large wood-fired kiln located at the Whichford Pottery. Her ceramics range from flat, almost two-dimensional, slab-built vessels, in earthenware or por...

Saturday, December 16, 2006. Just a few updates:. The last glaze load has been unloaded (I think by Helene! Some nice looking pieces! I think that the load included all the plates and trays that had been glazed, so if you're waiting for those, they are ready for pick-up. We probably have enough for another glaze load - if Karen gets her stuff finished! That has some good information on application etc. Posted by G. Monsma @ 3:06 PM 6 comments. Leduc Pottery Club: November 21
http://leducpottery.blogspot.com/2006/11/november-21.html
Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Time for another posting! Kiln progress: Karen got her helpful husband to replace the plug-in part of the cord (I'm sure it has a more technical name! And Kristi carried in a bunch of other official looking bits and pieces. So, I think we must be getting close! Lots of pieces are ready for bisquing, ready for glazing and ready for final firing. It will be exciting to try some of our new glazes in our new kiln. Free entry, but bring a Food Bank donation. Keep playing in the mud.
Leduc Pottery Club: Near Christmas!
http://leducpottery.blogspot.com/2006/12/near-christmas.html
Tuesday, December 12, 2006. Today (Tuesday) was a slow day at the club. Kristi, Helene and I were there for most of the evening and then Karen finally arrived at about 10:00. That should get us all caught up so that we can fire more regularly in the new year. Karen and Helene were talking about mixing up some new glazes (maybe tomorrow), if we have the needed ingredients. I think there is enough stuff to run the kiln again, so hopefully run through another load soon. Posted by G. Monsma @ 11:26 PM.

Wednesday, November 01, 2006. Now that the November is here we can start thinking about Christmas - well, everyone except Karen who is boycotting the holiday season this year. Lots of interesting pieces are being created, particularly by those people doing handbuilding. Very imaginative platters, plates and various other vessels. Also some cool altered shapes that began on the wheel! See you next week, if not before. Posted by G. Monsma @ 10:29 PM. Comments: Post a Comment. Red Deer College Series.
