Robin's Blog: Niagara Ultra 50K
http://robinandamelia.blogspot.com/2015/06/niagara.html
Monday, June 22, 2015. On Saturday I ran the Niagara 50K Ultra. Part of the Ontario Ultra Series. It was an early start, getting up at 3:30 am to make it there for kit pick up and the 7 am start. Zero traffic at that time of the morning (night) which is great. Mile splits for the first 6 miles were 8:38; 8:32; 8:37; 8:41; 8:33 and 8:33 for a 6 mile split of 51:34. After the turn around there was a bit of elevation leaving the falls area. I walked a bit of one of the hills as I was getting warm and st...

Thursday, July 31, 2014. Summer Vacation - Part 1 - Camping. Amelia and I survived our first camping adventure, alone! We've been camping before, and had lots of fun, but we were never completely alone. I was worried. Worried I wouldn't be able to start a fire, worried I wouldn't be able to start the BBQ (which I didn't attempt), worried we'd have security issues, worried about animals, worried she'd be bored. but it was all to no avail.well mostly. Thankfully, although the forecast said rain, it didn't&...

One Speed: Go!: In the Grasp of Night
http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2015/07/in-grasp-of-night.html
Sunday, July 5, 2015. In the Grasp of Night. What a four second exposure of a dozen Segway tourists buzzing across the Soleri Bridge looks like. This night, monsoon brewing, I felt the night grasp me, power my ride, urge me onward. Were they also in the grasp of night? Did they feel the lightning crackle? Hear the cicadas' poem? From the center of my bottom bracket, I affirm this night. Still looking good, the golden tubes. July 6, 2015 at 7:12 PM. They still sell Segways? July 6, 2015 at 7:44 PM. I comm...

One Speed: Go!: Euphoric States of the Bicycling Mind
http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2014/05/euphoric-states-of-bicycling-mind.html
Thursday, May 8, 2014. Euphoric States of the Bicycling Mind. A feeling like a waterfall of flowers is about to cascade onto me in the bike lane (tilt your head left a little bit). When riding your bicycle, do you ever experience mental states which you would consider to be meditative, euphoric, or even slightly hallucinatory? A heightened state of awareness? Imagination fueled, mind opened, dreams inflamed, daydreamer on full throttle? Small Creatures Living Next to Water. Umbrella Me with Otherness.

Monday, June 29, 2015. Living in the Age of Cactus Cameras. What a lovely cactus in the middle of that new roundabout.hey wait a minute. Smile, you're on candid cactus: PV gets eyes on plates. News of these broke in all the usual places about a month and a half ago, so this is just about my little post-work ramble* to grab a couple of pictures of a camera semi-hiding in a cactus in the middle of a roundabout. From the other side, just a squat saguaro behind a gabion town sign. Thursday, June 25, 2015.

One Speed: Go!: August 2015
http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 27, 2015. How High Should We Stretch, How Far Should We Go? Quieting the voice of limits and stopping. How high should we stretch? How far should we go? Are the limits a greater force than the demands to do more? How great could we be? How much could we do? How far could we ride? How fast could we go? How happy could we be? Do what you can do, but how do you know what that might be if you don't try? Saturday, August 22, 2015. Leave It All in the Free Box at Kennedy Meadows. Man thats a l...

The Long and Winding Road to Wellness: Super Heroine Fitness Week 1
http://schmigotzki.blogspot.com/2015/07/super-heroine-fitness-week-1.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Super Heroine Fitness Week 1. CDI (the testing facility) finally released the report and images from the CT scan back on the 13th. I'm still confused with some notes so I've asked my PCP to take a look and put the report in lay terms. Key notes I can understand:. The stone in my right kidney is 2 cm long and is the only renal one. Both kidneys, the ureters, and bladder all appear normal. The volume of stones has distended my gallbladder. Key notes I don't understand:. Spiralized...

Healthy Living and Fitness in Syracuse, NY. My Central New York. Gardein Vegetarian Chili {meatless Monday} #meetchef. September 14, 2015. Welp, Fall is here. It was a rainy weekend that proved to my chilly bones that it’s true. Nothing says fall like chili. It’s the perfect meal to pop in the crock pot and enjoy after an evening of being outside in the cooler air all day long. But just because it’s a fall dish doesn’t mean it can’t be CHUCK full of beautiful end of sumer produce. And thanks to Gardein.
