She graduated from the University of York with a BA in English in 1992 and an MA in film studies from Edinburgh University and then worked for the BBC for three years. Is the former editor of the Edmonton Journal and the Winnipeg Free Press, and currently the vice-chair of the National Newspaper Board of Governors. She is in awe of anyone strong and talented and dedicated enough to publish a book. Hers is still in a box, in a closet.
