Location lighting - Using Einstein strobes in the wilderness
http://blog.garyparker.com/2013/08/19/taking-einstein-for-a-hike-and-a-swim-wilderness-lighting
Swamp Dog Speaks…. Taking Einstein for a hike and a swim; wilderness lighting…. Monday, August 19, 2013. One of my distractions was a recent worldwide ad campaign where one of the comps required totally freezing an extra-quick dog in midair, a matter easily resolved by choosing Paul Buff Einstein strobes. This wilderness image of a “Woodsy young man with his woods-dog” was made in a tragically dimly lit wilderness location where a Paul Buff Einstein strobe. Canon EF50mm/f1.2L USM lens. 100 oz H20) and hi...

Swamp Dog Speaks…. Subscribe to Swamp Dog Speaks to get posts straight to your inbox. Creating Night Photography Without Tripods. Sunday, March 24, 2013. This set of pictures is not at all deep. They are the result of going out to get a pizza one night while staying in a rental condo in Belltown, an area of downtown Seattle right on Puget Sound, while Kimberly, my lovely bride, was out doing something. I was in Seattle to do an Outdoor Photography Workshop with Ron Martinsen. Link to this post. These ima...

TINY Fujifilm X-E2 Vs. the BIG Canon’s on a Magazine Cover Shoot
http://blog.garyparker.com/2014/06/04/tiny-fujifilm-x-e2-vs-the-big-canons-on-a-magazine-cover-shoot
Swamp Dog Speaks…. TINY Fujifilm X-E2 Vs. the BIG Canon’s on a Magazine Cover Shoot. Wednesday, June 4, 2014. A recent Savoy Magazine cover shoot of Kaiser Permanente CEO Bernard Tyson, head of one of America’s largest HMO hospital orgs, presented an ideal opportunity for comparing Canon lenses and image files with my new, relatively inexpensive Fujifilm X-E2 camera with 18-55mm lens. During a serious, real-world magazine shoot. Until this shoot I’d used the Fuji X-E2. Canon 1D Mark IV. For stationary su...

Rainbowdog Art by Janet Burt: April 2013
http://rainbowdogart.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Black Lab in Color by Janet Burt. Black dogs are notoriously difficult to paint - it's so hard to make the eyes stand out and the dark contours of the face show. Personally I love to paint black dogs, because it gives me a chance to really let loose with creatively colored highlights. This 16 x 16 inch square of Percy is my latest portrait, and a shining example of how black actually contains so many different hues. According to physicists, black is the absence of color. If you w...

Lighting Sermon! Dark skin, white shirt! YIKES!!!
http://blog.garyparker.com/2014/06/20/lighting-sermon-dark-skin-white-shirt-yikes
Swamp Dog Speaks…. Dark skin, white shirt! Friday, June 20, 2014. Over the years a substantial portion of my work has been magazine assignments, often technology-related mags due to my location in the heart of Silicon Valley. These shoots always go down on location where, partly by preference, we carry a lighting kit as heavy as 800 pounds, though I’m quick to leave it in the truck and shoot existing light with f1.2 lens. Once you can light anything, lighting honestly gets a bit more confusing since then...

Rainbowdog Art by Janet Burt: August 2011
http://rainbowdogart.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 26, 2011. Yellow Lab in Color. As you probably know, I love to use unconventional color to make my portraits sing, and I really had a blast with this latest commission of a yellow lab, a 20 x 24 inch acrylic on gallery-wrap canvas. That means they are complementary colors, and an artist gets the most tension and contrast when they are next to each other. (Don't mix them together though, unless you want mud.). To commission a Rainbowdog. Just send me an email. Links to this post. Best Frien...

Rainbowdog Art by Janet Burt: Random Fun Dog Factoid
http://rainbowdogart.blogspot.com/2014/06/random-fun-dog-factoid.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. Random Fun Dog Factoid. If anyone is thinking of traveling to New Zealand, might I suggest a detour to the town of Tirau. On the North Island? There you will find the unimaginatively-named, yet completely fabulous "Dog Building.". There's also a "Sheep Building" where wool items are sold,. And a good shepherd outside a church, among other wonderful things. Has anyone ever seen any of these in person? I'd love to hear about the experience, or see selfies! Rainbowdog Art by Janet Burt.
