Biking the Rails of BC: Kettle Valley Railway - Penticton to Coalmont
http://bikethebcrails.blogspot.com/2009/09/kettle-valley-railway-penticton-to.html
Monday, September 7, 2009. Kettle Valley Railway - Penticton to Coalmont. Labour Day long weekend, and we're cycling another leg of the KVR - this time from Penticton (where we left off in 2007) to Coalmont. We've scheduled 4 days.and are doing it using 2 cars, ferrying bikes and cyclists back and forth. Kind of a pain, but we don't want to be carrying stuff on our bikes (other than snacks and water! We pick up again at Faulder and head off into the most remote part of the trip - Faulder to Bankeir. ...

Biking the Rails of BC: September 2010
http://bikethebcrails.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Kettle Valley - Coalmont to Hope. We are once again on the trail, this time attempting the last section of the KVR from Coalmont to Hope. We start in Coalmont, at the point we left off last year. The weather is fine, dry and hot for early September! The trail is dusty and quite ATV-churned, and the scenery rather "meh" until we get to Tulameen. Things improve markedly as we cross the Otter River bridge (on the cover of Dan Langford's guide to the KVR! Just past Brodie, we enco...

Biking the Rails of BC: Rail Trails in Spain - Girona to Sant Feliu
http://bikethebcrails.blogspot.com/2010/07/rail-trails-in-spain-girona-to-sant.html
Friday, July 30, 2010. Rail Trails in Spain - Girona to Sant Feliu. Here we are, on holiday in Spain (Catalunya), and we've got the opportunity to try out a Spanish rail-trail! It appears that there is a network of rail-trails here, called Vias Verdes, and we decide to try one out to compare it to what BC's got to offer. The one we pick goes from Girona to the coast, about 40km to a town called Sant Feliu de Guixols. Click on the picture to enlarge and read a bit about its history. How hard can this be?

Biking the Rails of BC: August 2008
http://bikethebcrails.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2008. Biking Vancouver Island, part II. The idea was to get on the TCT at Cowichan Lake, and then bike down to the Kinsol trestle, doing the upper half of the section we started yesterday.as per the map here. But we take a wrong turn just 200m down the track, by not following to the letter the instructions on the sign. If you get on this old railway bridge, you are on the wrong path! The forest is lovely and green, no traffic, and NO ATVs! Saturday, August 30, 2008. Although the trail ...

Biking the Rails of BC: October 2008
http://bikethebcrails.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Biking Vancouver Island, part III. We've come back for Thanksgiving to try the Cowichan part of the Trans-Canada trail one more time. This is where we went wrong last time.we should've turned left onto Pine St instead of going straight ahead along the small dotted line to the bridge. Anyways, we're off along the right way now. It's a warm fall day and there is nobody else on the trail. The Holt Creek Trestle. Some of the old sleepers are still there! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Yesterday we visited the Kinsol Trestle to see how its reconstruction is going. It's almost done! You can see its progress via "live webcam" here. Takes a while to set itself up, so be patient! We're looking forward to being able to ride across this magnificent structure! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Biking the Rails of BC.
