Botany 111 Term Project. Saturday, October 27, 2007. This week in I observed two types of rotifers swiming in the tank. One type was long and moved with an inch-worm like motion. The other was circular in form and moved with a swiming motion. The circular rotifurs appeared to have flagella. Interaction between the two types of rotifurs was observed when a round rotifur bumped into a inch-worm like rotifur. Both swam off in opposite directions after this collision. Botany 111 Term Project. Friday, November 9, 2007. The loss of population growth due to last weeks spill was not as bad as predicted. There are still a large number of juvenile cyclops and the amount of cynobacteria has increased as well, especially near the moss. According to Wickham cyclops are predators (Wickham). They also eat plants and carrion (Wikipedia). I only observed two of the round rotifurs this week, so perhaps the spill did have some effect on the population of microrganisms. Http:/ plankt...

Botany 111 Term Project. Wednesday, October 17, 2007. First Week Botany 111 Term Project. The MicroAquarium was started today. Water from a Bromeliad in the greenhouse at the White Avenue Biology Building in Knoxville,TN was used. Moss B was also added to the aquarium. The aquarium was then veiwed under a microscope.
