domestic legion: October 2006

Monday, October 30, 2006. One year, when Allison was probably about 3 or 4 years old, she enjoyed Halloween with especial enthusiasm. Our neighbor, Lynette Jensen, told us months later that Allison had been trick-or-treating at their house every day since Halloween, and they had obligingly rewarded her with candy each day. I guess Allison thought it was a great racket. We had to fill her in on the seasonal nature of the shake-down. Posted by gamma @ 1:55 PM. Thursday, October 26, 2006. The screen that Da...

Wednesday, August 02, 2006. September 25, 1983 was the date of the last entry in the family journal. To wrap it up, I did a quick review of where we all stood. David, age 29, was in good physical condition, serving as ward financial clerk, and doing well at Cyma. Gordon, having turned six and in first grade, was "such a little man." He loved to tease his sisters, but was a good student and a good helper at home. And that's the end of the journal. Posted by gamma @ 9:48 AM. Tuesday, August 01, 2006. On Se...

Sunday, April 30, 2006. Cultural Touchstone: Where were you? Many Church members have clear memories of what they were doing when they heard that priesthood ordination was extended to all worthy male members. My memories are not as clear as this journal entry:. It was an astonishing and joyous moment. I felt that if I could live to see this day, when events foreseen for millenia could come to pass so dramatically, I could live to see the Second Coming. Posted by gamma @ 4:37 PM. Tuesday, October 02, 2012. Logan and Brent's Big Day. Logan had an orchestra concert tonight. He is playing a 3/4 bass. This is the size that most adult bass players play. I think he will be playing a full size bass in a year or two. He is already 6' 2" tall. He had already put the bass away so we didn't get a shot of him holding it. Here is a photo of my first subcutaneous injection. I've been told that the bald guy is me. Posted by Brent T. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Milestones (Elizabeth Nielson).

Thursday, April 28, 2011. If you look close you can see the mama hummer sitting on her little nest. The other 3 pictures are of the 2 baby hummers. They are right on the front porch. We are fascinated by their progress - nature! Labels: Hummers on the Front Porch. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Who knew that school could be so much fun? Today I got to dissect a sheep brain. Hold a human brain. And look at a human placenta. Posted by Brent T. Friday, April 08, 2011. Spring has Arrived in Melissa's backyard.

Sunday, April 15, 2012. So today as Logan and I were finishing our fast offering route, we passed by our mailbox and I decided to check it. Inside was a letter from ASU. The letter congratulated me on being accepted. This week I need to decide on which school I will be attending. ASU wants a firm commitment by the end of the week and GCU has not given me a firm commitment yet, nor have they given me details on the cost of their school and the scholarships they will offer. Monday, January 03, 2011. This one was not broadcast like the last one but I had surgery today to remove 4 lipomas. Three of these appeared about the same time that the cancer did. The fourth one was discovered last week (and turned out to be the biggest). I wanted them all removed with the cancer but the doctor said it would be best to take care of the cancer first. She told me that they all looked normal. They will be tested but she is pretty sure I have nothing to worry about. Posted by Brent T.

Thursday, July 28, 2011. Good things happen in the heat. Even good things happen in the heat of the summer! My little cactus in the pot BLOOMED and it's beautiful! Sunday, July 24, 2011. Feeling the Heat in Frisco. It was a hot day and tough competition. Zach got blocked out during the start and had a tough race. He still finished with a 3:11 - very good for a 12 yr old! Ben had a great mile race - 5:53 - and was able to push his way to 6th place, qualifying him for the State meet on Saturday, July 30th.
