Latest Blog Here….or choose by hovering. Category Archives: South America. Drinking with the Devil, Potosi. With just a couple of weeks remaining on my Bolivian visa I leave Sucre and begin heading to Chile, via Maragua a huge volcanic crater and its beautiful surrounding valleys, then on to Potosi, one of the highest cities in the world at 4000m and with it’s famed Silver mine, before returning to Uyuni to make my jump across the border before Christmas. Equipment – Tales from the Saddle

http://www.talesfromthesaddle.com/equipment

Latest Blog Here….or choose by hovering. For economical reasons, I ride a small bike. At first this was “Rudolf” a Yamaha YBR 125cc motorbike; this bike was phenomenal! Slow by motorcycle standards but quick enough, and it managed unbelievably well considering the bad roads it took on. Above all its fuel consumption was brilliant. It was fuel injected – being a European model – and managed up to. Finally with 72,000km on the clock the Honda’s third gear broke and I rode the remaining 8k without it ...

Route – Tales from the Saddle

http://www.talesfromthesaddle.com/route

Latest Blog Here….or choose by hovering. The map shows all the places I’ve been so far. I only mark my camp spots using a basic (without maps/routing) GPS device, so I don’t keep route or track data. The map is up to date (ie accurate) as far as my time in South America (July 2013). This means North and Central America and the Africa way points, as well as the S.America waypoints, are 100% accurate to show all the places I’ve camped or in the few rare cases; used a hostal. Tool for google maps.

Current Position – Tales from the Saddle

http://www.talesfromthesaddle.com/current-position

Latest Blog Here….or choose by hovering. Click to view Route to Date. The map shows all the places I’ve been so far. I only mark my camp spots using a basic (without maps/routing) GPS device, so I don’t keep route or track data. When I’m actually on the road map becomes less accurate, as I only make a rough map by “hand”. I’ve read of people using the map to follow my camps. I don’t think that’s really wise as some of the camp spots are really bad…or dangerous! Tool for google maps. Tales from the Saddle.

Not long after that my oldest daughter is getting married, I am starting a new career teaching fourth grade, and I will be an empty nester as everyone leaves. Posted by Julie @ 3:48 PM.
