Parshat Tetzaveh deals primarily with the special clothing that the kohanim (priests) wore when serving in the Mishkan (Tabernacle) and later in the Temple. Referring to the kohanim, the phrase “Vzeh hadavar,” is used (29:1). Translated literally, the words mean “This is the thing” or “This is the word.”. But the decree against the Jews as a people was still in effect.
