https://beingpartners.wordpress.com/2016/01/17/changing-water-into-wine
Changing water into wine. January 17, 2016. January 17, 2016. Wedding at Cana (John 2.1-11) 1. At St Stephen’s, Canonbury on Sunday, 17th January 2016 for the Second Sunday in Epiphany. Come Holy Spirit, by the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ. Amen. It’s a sign says John, the first sign. On the third day a wedding took place. What else happens on a third day? Who was the bride and who the groom? She was there at the wedding, clearly having had an invitation, ...

Reflections from the Calais ‘Jungle’. October 25, 2016. This weekend I have felt heartsick. I have been (even more) addicted to my phone watching and reading every bulletin that comes out of the Calais camp. Just a week ago we were there only for two hours, but in that short time we saw humanity writ large and I feel like I left part of myself in the makeshift town of thwarted aspiration, resilience, community and conflict. 1,489 more words. Musings from a Deacon in training, Mum of three and interfaith worker. Welcoming the Spring – what happens next? March 13, 2016. This morning we worshipped with a river running through our church. As we thought about the Kingdom of God we thought about the way we are facing – what are we expecting to happen next. The service was partly inspired by these words from John V Taylor’s amazing book –. The Go Between God. Which I am reading over Lent. A couple of hours before this service began my daily reading.

Musings from a Deacon in training, Mum of three and interfaith worker. For Such A Time as This…. May 9, 2015. This phrase is taken from a crucial moment in the story of Esther in the Hebrew Scriptures when she is persuaded that she must use her royal position to speak out for justice and the end of threat – even though it may cost her everything. This morning we all woke up to a significant shift in our political landscape. The party of traditional liberalism has all but disappeared, the party of fea...

Musings from a Deacon in training, Mum of three and interfaith worker. Go in Peace…. July 31, 2015. July 31, 2015. So just at the moment, despite the amazing welcome and support I have been given by my new church, I found myself wishing I could grieve with others who knew him. I want to share memories, laugh and cry with some of the people who appreciated this wonderful human being. Service depicts the moment when Peter is restored by Jesus after his denial and he is commissioned to feed the sheep. After...

Musings from a Deacon in training, Mum of three and interfaith worker. Word, Sacrament…and welcoming the stranger. April 8, 2015. Here is one I cooked earlier and put in the freezer during my sad attempt at a Lenten social media fast… and as its about my favourite resurrection story it is hopefully more apt now that it was then…. Is a fantastic metaphor for the the Christian journey and cycle of discipleship. Nouwen says this about our encounters: “Interesting, stimulating and inspiring as all thes...

Musings from a Deacon in training, Mum of three and interfaith worker. Deacon at last… musings on the first week. July 9, 2015. July 9, 2015. Now in this first week, having spent one day off, one day in clergy training, one day in work and one day in the parish, I wanted to reflect on what has changed and what has stayed the same. Or should ordination to the diaconate be a next step for most Christians? But what it also says to me is that there is a vast potential for ordinary ministry by ordinary people...

Musings from a Deacon in training, Mum of three and interfaith worker. June 3, 2015. June 3, 2015. A set of statistics. I wonder too if it is to do with how much of the job can be taught and how much is about personality, character and virtue – undefinable and unquantifiable attributes that bring the best out of people, calm fears and motivate others. Being Parent - Learning to raise kids
Learning to be a parent. Sunday, February 04, 2007. Product review: baby carriers part 1: BabyBag of Premaxx. Our baby is about 6 months and we have tried 4 different baby carriers, so I guess it's time to review them. In the shopping spree, before our baby was born, we'd picked the Baby-Bag of Premaxx. Of the shelves. We had the choice between that and the traditional baby sling cloth. Since the traditional way of carrying the baby looked harder to learn, we opted for the Baby-Bag. 8226; 2 comments.
