Living the Journey: February 2015
http://beingandwriting.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Nomadic and bookish adventures. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. How and why we housesit. Why do you do it? We like staying in places rural or urban, living like locals, trying on different lives. Many of the gigs involve taking care of pets. Because we travel so much, we don't have pets of our own. We enjoy being the loving babysitters of an array of dogs and cats- and in one case. Ducks, geese, turkeys and rabbits. Walking the dogs in Port Townsend. How do you get your gigs? And House Sitters America. Trust...
Living the Journey: Baja Life
http://beingandwriting.blogspot.com/2015/02/baja-life.html
Nomadic and bookish adventures. Friday, February 13, 2015. El Pescadero is on the Pacific. The wild Pacific. There are only a few beaches in Baja Sur that are advisable to swim in- and one of them, Cerritos, is a short walk from our place. The water is clear and shallow for a long way out. On those days, we play Frisbee or kick back watching the daring surfers. We can usually wade in a bit to get cooled off. Or we just come back to the villas and swim in the pool. The Villas" sounds so. A one-bedroom, is...
Living the Journey: "Books are a uniquely portable magic." Stephen King
http://beingandwriting.blogspot.com/2012/05/books-are-uniquely-portable-magic.html
Nomadic and bookish adventures. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Books are a uniquely portable magic." Stephen King. When I walked out of the library. Today, I suddenly felt like I used to as a kid: amazed that for no money, they let me take out a pile of books. It's like the thrill of stealing, without the bad juju of actual crime. I want to read. And read. And read! My list includes a swath of books chosen for various reasons:. 1 The Enormous Room. The mere brute pleasure of reading is the sort of pleasure.
Living the Journey: January 2015
http://beingandwriting.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Nomadic and bookish adventures. Tuesday, January 13, 2015. What happens in Cabo. Nails it: Cabo is a party animal, and Todos Santos/Pescadero is a hippie. In El Pescadero, we live a five-minute walk from Cerritos Beach, which is featured in Gilchrist's article. We also live within walking distance of San Pedrito beach. We just spent a few days in Cabo with our friend Jimmy, who has a house there. Or more of a compound, with multiple units that he's remodeling. A few blocks from tourist central. Jimmy dro...
Living the Journey: April 2015
http://beingandwriting.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Nomadic and bookish adventures. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Nomads on the move again. Five months in Mexico. Has been wonderful- the longest we've stayed in one place in two years. And now in a few days, these nomads are headed out again. We knew after our six-month visitor visas expired we'd need to leave the country. That could have been a weekend in L.A., only to turn around and come back. We weren't sure what we were going to do, except listen to whatever arose. Mexico. We will return to you and al...

triggXR: Cabin Fever
http://www.triggxr.com/2008/12/cabin-fever.html
Less mystery, more me. Sunday, December 21, 2008. I thought he was going to cry when I gave him the 100 bucks. It's not often you get to see money solve a problem in person. He showed me his lower lip which had two large cuts and was very swollen. I told him I was putting a blessing on him for being such a good Samaritan. Fortunately the cat turned around and came back in the house. I guess the litter box doesn't seem so bad under the circumstances. Posted by XR trigg. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I'm 40 - what now?: March 2010
http://im40-whatnow.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
I'm 40 - what now? Proving without a shadow of a doubt that anyone can have a blog. So we're 40, what now? Man this picture is big! Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Wind In The Hair. So we will soon be driving together to New England from New Jersey. I am absurdly excited about the road trip. I love getting in the car and going. Windows down, music rocking, and the wind in my hair . . . that's a little slice of heaven for me. Posted by S.D.S. Links to this post. Friday, March 26, 2010. Posted by S.D.S. A general...

I'm 40 - what now? Proving without a shadow of a doubt that anyone can have a blog. So we're 40, what now? Man this picture is big! Sunday, January 31, 2010. Affected me so deeply. My young mind couldn't understand how one group of people could treat another group so badly. I was just a kid. I remember angry frustrated tears because I couldn't believe this guy was serious. I was, indeed, living in a different world. How are we to learn anything new? Posted by S.D.S. Links to this post. High School, Oh My.

Heritage and Destiny: Month of May Photo Challenge. Day 24: A Corner
http://heritage-destiny.blogspot.com/2015/05/month-of-may-photo-challenge-day-24.html
Is the name of my Master's Thesis, a collection of short stories revolving mainly around the Vietnamese culture and the immigration experience. Blogging makes me think of creative writing, and I started this one with the purpose of logging my trip back to Viet Nam at the end of 2008. Now, it chronicles my journey as I pace the steps of my destiny. Sunday, May 24, 2015. Month of May Photo Challenge. Day 24: A Corner. Also, this just reminds me of "Hotel California":. Mirrors on the ceiling,. Behind, I know.
skye in a nutshell: February 2009
http://skyeinanutshell.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Skye in a nutshell. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. For me, my muse has lately been coming not from a clinking glass but from solitude and dreams. The oddest part of this is not that it often takes me days to fully realize the dream didn't actually happen but that, when I finally had to emerge from this strangely productive hibernation in order to meet with my accountant over my income taxes, what followed has me having a difficult time believing wasn't. Before I'd finished my first cup of coffee, a man wi...

Being and Time Lord
Thursday, May 12, 2016. A preview of things to come. I wouldn't blame you if you thought this blog was defunct. I treated it as such. Well, I'm bringing it back. I'm not going to lay out what it is, exactly, but this may prove useful. Foucault and Deleuze in conversation, 1972. Thursday, February 11, 2016. I'll still be writing posts about poetry, perhaps even delving into the things I've mentioned, but I cannot do it in a systematic fashion. That is far too ambitious for this blog. I'm still hammering a...

Living the Journey
Nomadic and bookish adventures. Sunday, February 4, 2018. Starting tomorrow, this is where I am writing my next book: In the "She Shed" on the property where we are housesitting in Northern California. We've been on a kind of housesitting binge lately: end of the year in the Pacific Northwest. Tahoe, and Palm Springs- punctuated by visits to friends and family all over. Krazy krewe in NOLA. With Stephanie and Daisy, and Daisy's son Luc. In the midst of all of this, my new book of poems, Target. As I writ...
Hopes and Dreams
Monday, August 29, 2011. 1st day of 1st grade. Today Lily Bear started 1st grade. I get to go pick her up in less than an hour and I'm. To see her and hear about her day! After sleeping until 8 for weeks and weeks, she was up at about 7 this morning! We stopped at Dutch Maid on the way to school and picked up a donut for breakfast. Donuts are one of her love languages. Andy called me on my way home to see how dropping her off had gone. I want Lily." I could have cried. He has missed her today. Standing o...

Being an Eccentric
What surrounds us affects us. August 19, 2015. The few hours at the beach were refreshing. All of us were quiet most of the time. Apart from the munching sounds of the samosas we were snacking on, we could just hear the waves and the distant sound of kids playing somewhere around the area. We left when the sun bid us goodbye for the day and the sky changed its colours, preparing to accommodate the moon. August 16, 2015. So this is my second award nomination since I joined the blogging journey! Song: This...
