Gentle Musings and Wild Rantings. THE SMELL OF INCENSE. I love the smell of incense. The smell of it hits me before I even walk into the front door of the church. It instantly reminds me that I am home. The ethereal tendrils of white smoke that rises, curls and wafts upward symbolizes our prayers, the prayers of the faithful and faithless, those searching and those found. Let my prayer arise in Thy sight as incense. And let the lifting up of my hands be an evening sacrifice. It causes me to pause and ask.
