Is ja nisch viel ßeit, wa! Mein Profil vollständig anzeigen. Dienstag, 10. August 2010. Nun ist also die erste Woche Taiwan schon wieder mehr als rum und dies weder viel zu schnell noch viel zu langsam sondern genau richtig! Taiwan ist für mich eine totale Überraschung. Ich bin zwar wie immer ohne jegliche Erwartungen hergekommen (zumindest hätte ich nicht sagen können, was ich denn für Erwartungen hätte), aber trotzdem ist es irgendwie anders als erwartet ;). Taiwan ist China ohne den nervigen Part!

In 2006, NAOJ proposed to construct the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC). Meanwhile, ASIAA is also working on the MOIRCS upgrade with Subaru telescope. MOIRCS is the major near-IR instrument of Subaru telescope. The upgrade of MOIRCS includes the installation of new Hawaii-2RG arrays with ASIC controller and Integral Field Unit (IFU) units. 中美掩星計畫 ( Taiwan American Occultation Survey; 以下簡稱TAOS ) 的目的在於偵測包含古柏帶以及更遠處的直徑約1公里的小型天體。 幾十年以來,藉由大型望遠鏡,天文學家已經在海王星以外之處,發現超過1000顆直徑超過100公里的天體。 TAOS的主要目的就是估算直徑介於500公尺至30公里的古柏帶天體(Kuiper Belt Objects; KBOs)的數量。 掩星的發生機率極低,據估計,每顆星每年只會發生不到0.01次,因此我們必須長時間偵測數百顆星才有機會偵測到掩星事件。 TAOS利用位於中台灣的鹿林天文台的四部50公分小型望遠鏡來進行觀測,每部望遠鏡配置了由 Spectral Instruments. 這款相機需要2.5秒才能讀取一幅完整的影像,對於掩星來說,這樣的讀取速度實在太慢。 為此我們開發了一種新的,我們稱之為zipper mode的讀取技術,詳細的描述請參看 這裡. 位在鹿林天文台的TAOS A 和 TAOS B望遠鏡. TAOS operates four small (50 cm) telescopes at Lulin observatory in central Taiwan. Each telescope is equipped with a 2kx2k CCD camera manufactured by Spectral Instruments. These cameras take 2.5 seconds to read out an entire image, which is much too slow to detect occultation events. We have thus developed a new readout technique which we call zipper mode.
