Monday, October 5, 2009. Popover a New Page. Oh, it has been a while since I have been here.the blog is a little dusty! I am finally in a little chunk of time fit for writing and a few lovely friends requested the recipe for my popovers, so here we go. First a little update on my cooking school adventure! So anyway, let's get to those popovers. I have been reading the Ratio book by Michael Ruhlman as I discussed in an earlier post, and came accross his discussion on popovers. Here is what got me:. Saturday, May 8, 2010. Do I Have What it Takes? Ever wonder if you have what it takes to succeed at something, then look back at yourself and say, "YES. I do darn it! Well, those times are few and far between for most people, me included. It is easy to feel inadequate - like someone will always be better, or more prepared, or whatever, but why should that stop us from trying? And now, cue empowerment theme music! Coming straight on for you! Posted by Lindsay Gage Natale. Links to this post. The Pioneer W...

Owl Cook: April 2010

Wednesday, April 14, 2010. For the (NEW) Love of Beets. So I separated the leaves from the stalks, boiled myself a big pot of salted water and got ready to give beet greens a shot. First the stalks go in since they can be tough, but since these were immature, they were thin and not stringy at all. Then after about 8 minutes, you slide in the leaves and cook for less than 5 minutes more. So fast! Pass them my way and keep them coming! Looking for my next inspiration. You're next Rainbow Chard! Cauliflower...

Owl Cook: July 2010
http://owlcook.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 27, 2010. I searched a long time for the perfect blueberry muffin recipe - tender, sweet but not overly so, piled with plump, slightly tangy berries, even more delicious the day after they are baked. I've got some high standards for this muffin - anything from childhood memory has to be just so. To be right. This recipe is just so. Here is my best blueberry muffin recipe - I have adapted my recipe from the one in Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook. 2 cups bread flour. 1 1/4 cups sugar. With t...

Owl Cook: January 2010
http://owlcook.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 19, 2010. One of the more interesting things I noticed was the amount of animal parts for sale that one never, ever sees in the USA (ahem.hotdogs.). I watched people buying chicken feet, saw a lady waiting for her freshly buzz-sawed cow head, and smiling pigs heads (minus the ears). I would love to go back to Mazatlan for a week just so I could shop at the market and cook my self silly. Posted by Lindsay Gage Natale. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Journey in Photography: March 2011

A Journey in Photography. A Photo Blog by Ashley. Thursday, March 31, 2011. Behind the Scenes 2: My First Proof Box from Cypress. K&L's wedding packaging included this 5X5 proof box and a matching dvd folio (not pictured). The beauty of a 5x5 print. Here's what I learned:. Cypress's 1000-print proof box only holds about 950 prints, without wiggle room. Next time, allow an extra 50-100 print space. Decrease image sizes before uploading. It will take a lot less time and hassle. I feel like it's not enough ...

Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Licorice, a.k.a. Louie, a.k.a. Dootie, a.k.a. Lu, a.k.a. Fluffmutt and the List Goes On. Thank you for all your thoughts for Licorice that were emailed and left in the comments. I believe she is going to be fine. Louie has never had any signs of any health issues related to what happened this week. So it was quite shocking. It was a grand mal seizure which can be caused by many different things. To do a session. We're giving her lots of love and good energy towards health.
