Fell top stories and associated adventures: A saunter up Scafell & Slightside
http://felltopstories.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-saunter-up-scafell-slightside.html
Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! A saunter up Scafell and Slightside. We started after parking the car walking into the valley along a well trodden path. A little bit of upwardness followed by a nice flattish path then more upwardness meant we gained some initial height quite quickly. At the top we walked through another valley with Mickledor straight in front and a tasty gully to our left which was our route up the next part of the hill ...

Fell top stories and associated adventures: December 2014

Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! Tales from the Tarmachan Ridge. Up and out of the hotel before breakfast and before any light was shed upon the day we headed for the Ben Lawers car park where the path to the Tarmachan Ridge started. At the first plateau the path took us up and over a false summit and there before us was a clear path almost vertical up through the snow gully. Ice axes would definately be required (just incase of a sli...

Fell top stories and associated adventures: November 2014
http://felltopstories.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! Striding on an edge! 95 miles of walking, 4 peaks and reduced daylight meant only 1 thing, a very early start. So, at 5am the alarm went off and by 5.30 we were out the door and heading north in the darkness. The views over to Helvellyn and Catseyecam were amazing with both ridges Striding and Swirral looking jaggidy and precarious in the morning sun. Today we'd be going up over Striding Edge but could...

Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! Raven Crag and Armboth Fell. The weather forecast was dreadful and didn't bode well for the day at all, showers, gusty wind up to 55miles per hour and other nasties were predicted for the morning but never the less we headed north, stopping, as always at Tebay services for our welcome morning cup of coffee. Castle Crag (not THE Castle Crag) was just a rocky mound with what seemed to be a trench like cut ou...

Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! 5 Wainwrights fuelled by Tunnochs Tea Cakes. The day started somewhat early and we were on the M6 heading north about 7.30am out the car with boots and waterproofs on about 9.30/10am ish. Not as early as normal but the walk today whilst not short wasn't as challenging as some of our adventures. Back down off Barf and over again to Lords Seat. I wondered if there was a way round Lords Seat instead of go...

Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! A weekend in Waswater Part 1. Racing to arrive before the light fades on a Friday night so we can try out our new tent for the weekend and Nether Wasdale was our destination. Church Stile Farm Campsite for the weekend with 5 wainwrights thrown in for good measure. The hills ahead of us were our target for the day. Illgill Head and Whin Rigg then down to Waswater for a walk back along the screes. The path t...

Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! 5 peaks, 100th Wainwright and The Roof of England. Today would be my 100th Wainwright and as much as I wanted a "key peak" to be my 100th we chose a route the included Scafell and resulted in Lingmell being the 100th. 630am out of the house, food and water packed as well as the obligatory layers as we werent sure what the weather was going to throw at us today. We didnt stick around long and started to mak...

Fell top stories and associated adventures: A misty murky wander over Wansfell
http://felltopstories.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-misty-murky-wander-over-wansfell.html
Fell top stories and associated adventures. By award winning photographer Lynne Watson (Thats's me! A misty murky wander over Wansfell. In our efforts to get out whatever the weather in this poor excuse for a summer we had a few hrs free on Sunday to play with and Wansfell seemed to be the ideal target. Not too far but still a Wainwright tick and would provide a little bit of exercise for the weekend. The weather was mixed, a bit of mist, drizzle and it wasn't that warm really. Was it really August?
