Welcome to the Garden Spot

Sunday, May 17, 2015. You have heard this before: I am on chore duty, which means that I have to watch over everything while The Head Gardener has gone fishing. You have seen the photos of the horses eating, the chickens pecking, the grass growing, and my jokes about shopping when he is gone. I'll spare you that story. I do wish I had more to share on the garden other than my continual Weed Rant. I'll spare you that misery, too. The tile installer worked most of the day yesterday installing the back spla...

Welcome to the Garden Spot: April 2014

http://annsgardenspot.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Gardening by the Light of the Moon. Spring continues to be capricious here in Northern Colorado. This morning the sun floods the Garden Spot with its warm glow, making the dew on the lawn sparkle. We hope the wind will stay away, for we have had wind since Sunday. Not gentle breezes, but a fierce wind full of furry gusting upwards of 40-50 miles an hour, or however they calculate wind speed. I don't much care for wind. Essentially they gardened by the light of the moon. Not...

Welcome to the Garden Spot: May 2014

http://annsgardenspot.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 26, 2014. Just a Little Work. Once home, we had a bite of lunch then the Head Gardener unloaded the stones from the horse trailer onto the EZ Go golf cart and hauled it all over to the pond. So this is what a ton an a half of rock looks like. He laid it all out so that we could see each piece to help decide where to place each stone. There was a lot of "not there" and "try it over there" and "no, I don't really like that piece there.". Don't the name of this beauty. The Head Gardener planted ...

Welcome to the Garden Spot: June 2014

http://annsgardenspot.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 21, 2014. Wishes and Whims: The Stuff Gardens are Made Of. Max learned in his old age that it was much easier to ride the EZ GO than it was to try to run to keep up with us. We have been trying to teach the new dog to ride the cart. He is getting better, but at 8 months, he'd rather run with his hunting dog nose to ground catching scent of everything. Look at this little darling: Heron's Bill, a miniature cranes bill. I bought three at Lowe's. Note to self: Stay out of Lowe's garde...David...

Welcome to the Garden Spot: April 2015

http://annsgardenspot.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 26, 2015. Point on the Center Circle. So I got a good start this week. Spent a couple of days weeding and making the point neat and ready to receive plants. The grasses didn't survive the winter. Bummer. New plan scratch the grasses. Instead I found a box of oriental lilies at the super market, so I planted them instead. Loaded with the day lilies, the EZ-Go makes hauling gardening stuff around so much easier. So here are my beauties that will replace the lost roses in the front court yard:.

Cornish Cream: October 2014

http://frenchvillagelife.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Six little 'sugared almond' hats. And one renegade non conformist, trying to hide. I shall get them packed up and posted, and may even meet one again in Sainsburys. Saturday, October 25, 2014. I t's Little Hat time again. Every year the drinks company, Innocent, raises money for Age UK by selling drinks bottles wearing hats. I am late starting due to other things in life, but am hastily knitting half a dozen little hats to go. And that mounts up considerably. Knit one, purl one.

A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Admiring Plants In St. Croix, VI. Greetings from St. Croix, VI. I left my garden and decided to spend a week soaking up the sun in St. Croix, VI. My brother is tending to my garden. I pray that everything is living when I return. St. Croix has not disappointed! Aloe - Perfect for my sunburned back, ouch! This plant is huge as you can see. It's about 4 feet tall and growing. Coconut Palm. The coconuts are cut down for guest...

A Diva's Garden: June 2013

http://adivasgarden.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Saturday, June 29, 2013. Here's a few of my visitors. The squirrels were the first to visit of course. They will sit and eat until they're about to explode. A peck on the window will send them away if they get too greedy. The blue jays haven't found it yet. In the second picture, they are feeding where I had the feeder originally. A cardinal and his mate have found it as well. Do you feed the birds? What backyard visitors do you get? There's conflict...

A Diva's Garden: Vegetable Garden Fencing

http://adivasgarden.blogspot.com/2012/03/vegetable-garden-fencing.html

A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Wednesday, March 14, 2012. I decided to expand my garden this year. Last year it was 10 x 20, and was somewhat crowed with what I planted. This year I'm going to till a 25 x 25 or 30 x 30 area and fence it in similar to the picture shown. We're putting up 250 feet of privacy fencing, so I thought I would fence the garden as well. I would love to hear what you think about one method over the other. I will definitely incorporate the arbor, stepping sto...

Last day of summer →. Living a David Attenborough Documentary life. February 28, 2015. In January we visited Heron Island – it was like stepping into a David Attenborough (my hero) documentary…. We swam with sharks, rays, turtles, schools of fish…watched baby turtles erupt from the sand at our feet and mumma turtles come to shore to lay at night. Truly a beautiful place. Greetings from Texas 2014

Yes, it's December again and time for a wrapup of the year. An early-morning view of the home viewed from. The centerpiece of the year was a family trip to Lake Michigan in July. The plan was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, which was in August (many of you may remember the original event), but work and school schedules made July a better choice. We rented a vacation home near the lake for a week, and six adults and four kids converged on Benton Harbor, Michigan. 149; Neal and Ann from Brazoria.

Ann's Gem Art

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Twelve Weeks of Christmas - Third Week. I know it's been a long time since my last post on my blog. I needed to take some time away from the hussle and bustle and let my creative side work quietly away. I've done lots of drawing and experimenting with wire and have come up with five new patterns: crystals, pins/pendants combos; small faceted gemstone pendants, cabochon braceket and a pearl pendant. Some are already offered on my web site. Herbal/Floral Bath and Body Oil.
