Andrew and Paula

Sunday, February 22, 2015. Off to the East Cape. I had never been to Gisborne or the East Cape, and Andrew had only spent a very limited amount of time there. It was February, supposedly mid-summer and the area was known for it’s good weather. The Jackson’s, at the moment, are known for bringing rain and cold where-ever they go this summer. But we headed off, bravely ignoring our recent travel history. And great food and coffee at the Gisborne Deli. We spent 40 minutes at the historic cemetery dressed in...

Andrew and Paula: Back in Paris

http://www.andrewpaula.com/2012/01/back-in-paris.html

Saturday, January 28, 2012. After getting the bus down the mountain to the town of Annecy we had a 4 hour journey on the TGV to Paris for our final 2 nights. There were had a marvellous gastronomic run. In the inflight magazine when we flew to Geneva there was a story on. The tastebuds) . A bistro built around a great wine cellar. An the wines in the bistro were shop price plus €7 per bottle. So you can imagine one man was very keen to try the place out. The finale was a caramel topped pannacotta. For &#...

Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Paris, with luggage this time. We strolled into the Petit Palais art gallery. Without a wait. Andrew did manage to "mis-hear" the security guard checking if he had “keys” in his pockets before we went through the metal scanner. Andrew simply said “New Zealand” and the guard looked a little bemused. I’m not sure what Andrew thought the question was, to give that answer. We went back to La Grande Epicerie. And it did not disappoint. Delicious from start to finish. Host to arrang...

Tuesday, August 26, 2014. It was off to Dresden for a few days with a brief overnight in Hannover. There we saw an atypical, modern church door at the Marktkirche, which was a war memorial. The large iron doors depicted WWII with oppression, concentration camps, tanks and suffering. It was memorable and striking. To be honest the Phaeton itself wasn't visually outstanding (a base model was about €70,000 for a V12 4WD), but the factory and the process was a highlight of our time there. Having explored the...

Thursday, September 25, 2014. A day in Roman Morocco. Even today it is a lush and fertile valley. Perhaps one of the most amazing things about this site is that after 2000 years the mosaics are remarkably well preserved after centuries of being hidden then exposed to the elements after the site was first excavated by the French around 1912. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. A drive through the middle Atlas mountains. The scenery was superb, changing from desert to oasis then from to high country to an orcha...

Thursday, July 24, 2014. Wadi, Wadi, Wadi. After having written a post it always pays to post it, so after a large delay the wrap-up for this Sri Lankan trip]. There was even a manual system of physically handing over a ring to ensure that only one train was using the single track at any time. Colombo back to Bangkok, a few hours in Bangkok Airport before the long leg through to Sydney and ultimately Wellington. Sri Lanka remains a favourite destination. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). FreeMagicCards.com is my first project I completed at General Assembly. The site serves as a Craigslist style exchange for Magic Cards, between people who want to give cards away and people who would like to add to their collection. The site is built on Express using Node.js, and the API’s used are Mapbox, Leaflet, and Google Geolocation API. I also enjoy photography.
