Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else)

Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else). Pigeons lined up ready to devour everything in sight. We have an award einning allotmenteer on our sight but he hasnt been seen this year. Nobody seems to know why so a little worried. Anyway, the pigeons have moved in snd set up camp on and above his plot. Brassicas planted out this week so a cover of enviromesh made. We have used this rather than netting hoping that it will also keep away those horrible little thrips. Yes, we have tomatos. The trunk...

Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else): Allotment update

http://allotment1.blogspot.com/2011/01/allotment-update.html

Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else). We took the opportunity to reclaim the allotment over Chrismas as it was in such a terrible neglected state. It actually didn't take that long to get the beds weeded and dug over. We had 5 trips to the tip with the trailer loaded of Jewson bags full of weeds and one full of rubbish so a very refreshing clear out. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Abel and Cole recipes. Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else): A different sort of bird

http://allotment1.blogspot.com/2011/02/different-sort-of-bird.html

Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else). A different sort of bird. I have been very diligent throughout the Winter in making sure the birds have plenty of food and water. It is lovely, not that it is Spring to see the Long Tail Tits back and a new bird that I haven't see non the bird table before. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Abel and Cole recipes. Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else). Yes, we have tomatos. Beefsteak on its way. I have never tried them before and not sure how to support the weight of the toms as the plant has gone a bit leggy already. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Abel and Cole recipes. Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else): We're back

http://allotment1.blogspot.com/2015/05/were-back.html

Nick and Janette - our allotment (and anything else). After a long period of allotment lethargy, we are back this year with renewed energy and enthusiasm. The greenhouse is bursting at the seams and what a difference a week makes. One side is taken up with dahlias potted up in March. Mostly named varieties but some are random bits that I found in the bottom of bags so could turn out to be any size, shape or colour. Too early to go outside yet but the space is desperately needed. We decided that maintaini...

Kentshire Life: June 2010

http://kentshirelife.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, 20 June 2010. Well, here she is, our car for 2 days a couple of weeks ago. As she's a Moggy we named her Meg, and what a lovely character she was. hard work to drive - crunchy gears, massive steering wheel with no power steering, and an indicator that I kept forgetting to turn off. But, oh wasn't she fun! Pootling around the Cotswolds was just lovely, we even managed to get the top down a couple of times, and it was lovely to hear so many people comment on her - a real pinup! Allotment 28a

Digging in the earth and growing some veg! Friday, 23 July 2010. I may not have written anything recently but I think I have a good excuse. Yes, these two have been keeping me pretty busy at home! I've had them for a week and they are so brilliant, hours and hours of fun. Their names are Boris and Poppet, brother and sister, they were born to a stray at a vets just across the road from the allotment. I heart them. I also have some parsnip seedlings! I made a soft fruit tart with the red currants, some ra...

Allotment 29 | My Allotment

Making the raised beds. First 2 raised beds competed. The soil is very stony so now that I have the first raised beds in place I’m digging them over and removing the stones as well as any clumps of weeds I’m finding. I then raked the soil level and was able to remove more stones. Once I was happy with the level and condition of the soil I added compost, chicken feed and fertilizer, then forked it over and left it a few days before planting. This entry was posted in Allotment 29. June 13, 2014. Blog at Wo...
