Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: Tourism
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2011/02/tourism.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Friday, February 25, 2011. It’s something I’ve heard about a lot these days. They say tourism is going to save regions from economic hardship and failure. Tourism it the best and only option for saving cultures. Tourism is what is keeping the money flowing and the people out of poverty. What does tourism really do? Tourism paints a happy face upon every page and every day. You visit a new place, somewhere you’ve never been before, and there, life is good. We drive...

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: Once again, I have said too much.
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2010/09/once-again-i-have-said-too-much.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Friday, September 24, 2010. Once again, I have said too much. So often, I find myself speaking out of turn; saying too much; with words pouring out of my heart unchecked, unbalanced, un-fettered by the dignity or decency of a filter as to what should. Be said. “Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks” has rarely been truer than it is for me. At least, that’s how I feel so often. Did I say good night and part ways with my friend? No No, but it should have.

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: October 2008
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Monday, October 6, 2008. A couple of stories from life here in Changsha. Deep Fried for Free. Here in "the 'Sha" there are lots of places with food on sticks. They're these little shops with tofu, hot dogs, steamed buns, veggies, and other things, all on sticks. When you buy them, they drop them in a vat of hot oil and fry them for you. When they pull them out, they paint them in spicy. The boy said. That means, we're giving it to you for free. What? A penny) for ...

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: August 2009
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Wind-y (read long /I/). I'm just trying to get from point X to point Y, and hopefully from point Y home to point A, but it never seems to work out that way, and I end up lost around R or G. I find myself in the car thinking "A ha! I know where that leads! And then, I find I was wrong. Frustrated, and, well, you can see where that cycle leads. And then. it hit me. Grumbling and being frustrated can become. I was so lost in myself and my ...

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: December 2009
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Thursday, December 17, 2009. He is who I thought He was. thoughts on Joseph at Christmas. You ever wonder if Joseph was a bit comforted by "all the things they had heard and seen"? At this time of year, we often think about Mary. Mary who was probably around 13 years old. Mary who was a ponderer of many things. Mary who had seen holy. Mary who had been called blesséd. Mary. But this year I've been thinking more about Joseph. Joseph had a dream that can be found.

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Can I get a quantitative analysis of this choice, please? All of this happened in a moment, and I looked back at the crow and thought to myself, “Well, at least he won’t sound like that when he grows up.” Half a beat later I realized: he was grown up, and he was stuck sounding that way (minus, perhaps, the scratchy throat) for all of his days. He was, after all, a crow. The human mind is a curious thing. Recent research also shows.

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: May 2010
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Part II: Can you feel it? Last night’s queries having given way to sleep; this morning’s sunrise has given way to suspicion. There. Be more to the story than that. When I lived in China, I came across a curious phenomenon. That curiosity was soon lost, replaced with a hopeless acceptance of the inevitable. A copy-this-format culture will inevitably lead to technically beautiful, emotion-less art. Not really. Were they moving? Well… yes ...

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: September 2009
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Saturday, September 5, 2009. Life at a university never ceases to be interesting. Today, I saw a squirrel on my way to class. That's not so unusual, I suppose, but the fact that he was just hanging out on the back tire of someone's. Bike is what caught my eye. Wish I'd had a camera out and at the ready to catch Mr. Squirrel's circus act. The squirrels on the grounds of the university are innumerable. I live in a place where people are very eco. Whose feet are blac...

Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom: Have you found love?
http://bitsyinchina.blogspot.com/2010/09/have-you-found-love.html
Thoughts on life and the Middle Kingdom. Friday, September 10, 2010. Have you found love? I'm in the process of closing down a blog I started many moons ago. It was blocked by the Great Firewall and eventually left for dead. Interesting to go back and read old posts. In the meantime, this song has been speaking to me tonight and making me think of the Father and where I am with Him these days. See what you think. I saw love in a hurricane. Just after the storm. Running through the rain. Even when I'm down.
