Bucket List, or Existential Crisis? | Aleph One
https://aleph1beth1.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/bucket-list-or-existential-crisis
Random musings from a disoriented mind navigating the chaos of the city. Bucket List, or Existential Crisis? Today I finally experienced an event that was at the top of my list of “New York City Experiences”, yet it somehow took me nearly four years to finally do so. Why did it take so long, you ask? Yes, yes, I know. If I rambled less I could write more. That’s like asking a fish to ride a bicycle.). So clever, they are. To summarize, the electrifying:. Jon Stewart is really freaking short. Anyhow, one ...

Random musings from a disoriented mind navigating the chaos of the city. Masters of the Universe. The masters at work, determining our future. So, I determined how much money millions of workers will receive from their employer pensions today. I’m still in shock. Why, you may ask, was I chosen to wield such power? Am I simply being hyperbolic? I answer: I have no idea, and no, not whatsoever. And that was before the financial crisis. Many corporations are worth. I had no idea…. As “ haircuts. I’d s...
The Conductor Breaks Through | Aleph One

Random musings from a disoriented mind navigating the chaos of the city. The Conductor Breaks Through. I’m being a bit long-winded (Me long-winded? So, to make a short story long, when the conductor on the G today (one of the few trains remaining that doesn’t have the soulless computerized station announcements) cheerfully belted over the speakers notice of our arrival at the Metropolitan stop, he exclaimed,. A smile cracked my protectively-cocooned face, and I thus I did. By Aleph One on June 22, 2010.

Paper Trains | Aleph One
https://aleph1beth1.wordpress.com/2010/06/27/paper-trains
Random musings from a disoriented mind navigating the chaos of the city. The ride engenders the questions: Why have we allowed our cities to decay to this point , and Why isn’t rail service cheaper/faster/more widespread? And I know many of the answers, as I’m sure you do. But it’s a doubly melancholy reflection. By Aleph One on June 27, 2010. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Getting my ph.d in new york. Monday, April 26, 2010. Damn it, I need a PA. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Takin' it from the streets. One night after a few glasses at Loup, on my way to the subway home, I came upon an abandoned coffee table on 13th street. Beautiful, solid wood construction and just like new. I carried that table up and down stairs, through subway turnstiles, onto the 1 train and off again, and up two flights in my building, where I knocked on my neighbour. Sunday, April 18, 2010. Saturday I...

Getting my ph.d in new york. Sunday, January 31, 2010. Later on I was on a date with this guy. We started talking about both having gone to the ticker tape parade. For the Giants, me because I am a social anthropologist, and he because he worked in the Financial District at the time. I asked him where he watched it from. He said, "You know that big red cube in front of Zuccoti Park? It turns out we were standing right next to each other. (He was not. One of the guys I was quoting in my blog post.). Time ...
Pour the wine: HA where?
http://pourthewine.blogspot.com/2010/06/ha-where.html
Getting my ph.d in new york. Tuesday, June 08, 2010. My stalker and I (will explain later) have a shared fascination with obscure street names in Manhattan. I mean, everyone knows Broadway and Delancey and Houston and the Bowery, but Cherry Street? Corner of Jefferson and Henry, anyone? Beach Street at St John's Lane? Well I have found the ultimate, my friends. The intersection of Wui plaza and Teddy Gleason Street. I defy you to find it on a map. It even mystifies Google. Bahahaha. 8221; we ask. New Yor...

Pour the wine: September 2009
http://pourthewine.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Getting my ph.d in new york. Monday, September 28, 2009. Saturday night in NYC. Going out on a Saturday night feels like punishment - surrounded by NYU students, the bridge and tunnel crew, fratboy traders and other nine-to-fivers, bad dates, etc. Who wants to share the bar/restaurant/sidewalk with that? Plus, the subway only runs once an hour (and it's skipping your stop). Why is there a tupperware container full of homemade meatballs on 13th street? You mean you don't know. Sunday, September 27, 2009.
