Miles' New Ear: As Seen on TV
http://milestrip.blogspot.com/2009/01/as-seen-on-tv.html
Friday, January 30, 2009. As Seen on TV. So apparantly Miles is heavily influenced by those "As Seen on TV" commercials. Last night he was telling us about some stacking cups. And told us that he wanted some. The way he described it, it sounded like something he saw in a commercial, but he claimed he heard about it in gym (what are they doing in gym? For his birthday. You get two for the price of one and it comes with a book light! So I'm dying laughing, when he tells me that I need a Spin Lash. This blo...

http://milestrip.blogspot.com/2009/01/la-fun-stuff.html
Friday, January 30, 2009. LA - The Fun Stuff. So, as you all know, last week we went to LA for Miles' keloid removal surgery and radiation. The doctor's appointments all started on Monday, so we went out on Saturday for a little fun. The next day we went to Legoland. The boys absolutely loved it and ask just about every day when we're going back. Here the boys are making friends with a giant sloth. Here you can see some fossils in the tar:. Jack looking particularly mature:. Which was no Magic Castle.

Miles' New Ear: First Post-Op
http://milestrip.blogspot.com/2005/11/first-post-op.html
Friday, November 04, 2005. Cleaning up helped the itching head somewhat, but now the skin graft on his left ear is itchy. We had an even harder time last night keeping the “hat” on, because he keeps scratching and since the sides are uneven, it doesn’t stay on very well. Thankfully, he was absolutely exhausted last night, so slept pretty well, despite everything. Okay, here are some pics. Here he is with the netting off and they’re starting to remove the cups with some anti-adhesive:. Miles totally freak...

Miles' New Ear: Tips for ear surgery
http://milestrip.blogspot.com/2005/11/tips-for-ear-surgery.html
Tuesday, November 08, 2005. Tips for ear surgery. I posted this on the microtia yahoo board, but thought it was worth posting here. Here is some advice- some of which I received from people on that board and worked for us- some of which we just discovered on our own:. 1) Bring lots of shirts and jammies that button down and don't have to be pulled over the head. 2) Bring pants/shorts/skirts that have a waist band (not button or zip) so they're easier on the abdomen skin graft. 7) A small stroller, like t...

They had an event for us where they gave us dinner, a chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, and gave the boys a Mr. Incredible doll and a Dash mask, in addiiton to tickets to the show. I love this picture of my Incredibles:. Here they are first meeting them:. Here is Jack with his Mr. Incredible doll:. Please leave us a comment.

Miles' New Ear: A Little Background Information
http://milestrip.blogspot.com/2005/10/little-background-information.html
Monday, October 17, 2005. A Little Background Information. Atresia" means that he has no ear canal. He does have an inner ear, but since there is no ear canal, he hears very little out of that ear. An operation called a canalplasty opens up ear canals, but we recently found out that he is not a candidate for that operation. We have chosen Dr. John Reinisch. So, on October 27th we will be flying to LA to undergo surgery on the 28th. We will be there for several weeks (spending part of the time between...

Miles' New Ear: Arizona Update
http://milestrip.blogspot.com/2005/11/arizona-update.html
Wednesday, November 02, 2005. So sorry that it has been so long since we've updated this blog. We have not had internet access since we left LA. We are at my parent's place in Mesa- much cheaper than staying in LA. It took about 7 hours to get here. One night we were feeling pretty cocky and thought that we'd just have daddy sleep with him, since it had been going pretty well. That turned out to be the worst night of all, poor boys. So now we're back on the shift regimen. Miles' right eye swelled up a co...
