The Frequency was originally conceived by journalist/editor Allan Hoving. In the late 1990s as a model for a popular interactive "web show." Each week, the audience would contribute original multimedia content (what we now call UGC) on a single hot topic in the news. Expert moderators and community voting would help filter the best contributions, which would then be produced into a multimedia program to be aired on cable TV. In April 2010, "The Frequency" featured the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.
