https://afronomics.wordpress.com/2008/03/04/happiness-and-freedom

The typical ambitious Brit toils many hours a day, with long commutes to and from work. Such ambitious folk could instead take a pay cut, move to a smaller house and thereby unencumber themselves. But they don’t. They prefer to be fettered by the burden of work. A little depressing if so. Entry filed under: Happiness.

Rain, Rain, Go Away. March 2, 2008 at 12:35 pm. Suggests that transitory bad weather is associated with regime change in Sub-Saharan Africa. Researchers show that the economic downturns experienced as a result of drought reduce the costs of removing autocrats and enhance the chances of democratisation. So the real cause is economic downturn – not drought per se. But what are the implications of this finding in the face of strengthening Sub-Saharan economies? And the implications of climate change?
