I have worked in the IT industry over the past 10 years doing software and network support, technical writing, and business / systems analysis. I enjoy photography and travel; hiking, biking, canoeing, and camping; and telling stories. Sometimes I even write. Long day on the road today: 5:30 am roll-out, cancelled flight, alternate destination, rejigged car rental, and an extra 2 hours of driving. It was a hectic enough day that I didn’t shoot anything until dinner. All’s well that ends well. Blackened Cajun chicken with potatoes and coleslaw at Earl’s for dinner. Cheryl and the M's. Life with Melissa, Michael, Madeleine, Megan, and Maribeth. Friday, March 31, 2006. I have seen pileated woodpeckers while hiking locally, but they were much bigger than the one I was looking at. I got my camera out and took some pictures. I was certainly glad to have the 16x (digital) zoom on my Canon because there wasn't any way that I was going to get any closer to the bird to properly identify it. When I got home, I compared my photo with some online resources. Links to this post.

I've reactivated my old blog - I pulled it to private the beginning of 2007 when Allan and I separated and divorced. I had several draft posts later trying to explain things - but decided to keep it all off the internet. Life has moved on and the M's are doing amazingly well these days and so much bigger than when I was last posting! Megan and Maribeth are in grade 3 in separate classrooms this year...
