Knitting, and Crochet, and Felting, Oh My! Other crafts too, sometimes). Monday, February 9, 2009. Just in time Knitting. I hadn't realized how fast my knitting had gotten until I turned out both these items in just a few days. Now, I'll admit, they aren't the most complicated items in the world, but I am still pretty proud of getting them both done in about 4 days. And got to work. This pattern is very easy but the ribbing and short row shaping make it interesting enough to forestall boredom. I have a g...

Professional juggler in Austin, Texas. Friday, August 20, 2010. The Balance and Motion Show. I do a Balance and Motion juggling show that lines up with the Texas Second Grade curriculum, which includes a Balance and Motion FOSS kit. In the end, I decided to go with the pen name. I like my real name, and I’m not ashamed of my fiction, but several factors pushed me to choose a nom de plume.

The Goblin King: A Review. July 7, 2015. July 8, 2015. I just finished reading Katherine Addison’s. One of the novels shortlisted for this year’s Hugo awards. It’s a book that answers a question I’ve asked many times at the end of other fantasies: What happened after the protagonist unseated the Bad King and took the throne for himself? How did he turn the ship of state around? The detachment is exacerbated by a complex system of naming and honorifics. Characters are often referred to by their title ...
